Customer Reviews

Fine, delicate detail; good info on prints5
At first I was a bit taken aback when my order arrived. I'd expected to be able to easily pull the cards out one by one from a little book. It turns out you have to painstakingly tear each postcard from perforated sheets of four. BUT the printing quality is very good and the art is incredible. Hiroshige's scenes are often humorous and extremely detailed. For instance, scenes which depict travelers often reveal individual faces and expressions, even little dramas. I spent hours pouring over each print--this is easily my favorite book of postcards (I ordered four sets of different cards). This postcard collection is superior to many others because the book's covers contain many interesting details about each print. Not so the Hokusai postcard book, also produced by Dover...

Suitable for framing5
I bought this book of postcards years ago. I liked them so much, I put 6 of the cards into frames in my dining room. While all of the cards did not seem as lovely to me as the 6 I chose, those 6 were worth the price of the book. These are wonderful reproductions of the work of Ando Hiroshige. If you're a fan of Japanese painting, you're going to love this book of postcards.
