Editorial Reviews

From Booklist
Lesniewicz gives readers a short history of the art of bonsai and offers instructions on care, including light, humidity, temperature, watering, and feeding requirements. He includes step-by-step directions on shaping and creating four classic bonsai forms, creating groupings, propagating plants from seed and cuttings, trimming leaves, and pruning roots. The bulk of the book is a listing of 42 bonsai plants arranged alphabetically with detailed instructions on their care. There's also a list of 26 questions and answers to help gardeners grow these demanding miniature plants. Almost every page of this profusely illustrated and informative guide is in color. Customer Reviews

The title is a little misleading.4
While this book does stress the main idea of indoor growing, it doesn't help when the author tells us to move the plant outdoors in the spring. The lighting requirement for each species is really helpful and the photos are beautiful. The illustrations make repotting easier to do (you can see how the tree is tied to the pot). The care is detailed and quick since you can see at a glance how much watering is needed or when to propagate.n

Good book for beginners.5
This book helped me a lot in deciding which tree to grow and maintain. This book had drawings and pictures that assisted me in pruning, wiring, and the transplanting of my tree.

Great for the novice3
This book, of the 3 I purchased, is the one I refer to most often. It has detailed descirptions of each tree along wiht detailed instructions on care for the tree including maintenance, repotting, propagation, etc. Very easy to understand and has answered the vast majority of my questions.
