Fresh designs and enchanting colors make this title, originally published in Italy (R.C.S. Libri, 1996), stand out from the current crowd of "quilting-for-baby" books. Projects include a number of small crib quilts along with ideas for using crib quilt motifs to make other projects such as pajama holders, pillows, bags, wall hangings, etc. Fully one-third of the book is devoted to quilting techniques and design "how-to." An excellent source of ideas for the intermediate quilter.

I have about 50+ second-hand quilting books (okay, not that many, but it's still a lot). Since they all cover a lot of common ground (use rotary tools for cutting, sewing machines are nifty, thimbles prevent massive internal bleeding, etc.), it's usually just best to note whether this one covers the basics well (it does) and what sets it apart from all the other quilting books.
First of all, the book is very pretty and modern. The page backgrounds exude a crisp, clean, shiny white and there's not very much of the "country quilting" motif here. Definitely, the editors were going for a "not your grandmother's quilting resource" here.
Second, there's a lot of new ideas here. The quilted braided wreaths are great, and provide a new way to display your craft on the wall besides the standard "quilt on a wall" design. There's some decent gift bags here, and plenty of baby quilts, and (believe it or not) a quilted "cake" to trot out on baby's birthday. I'm not really sure that baby would prefer a quilted "cake" to a yummy, messy confection, but it's cute, different, and low-fat.
I recommend this book if you can get it at a decent price. It's got some new ideas in it, and the presentation is certainly very clean and crisp.

Baby Patchwork
This book has fabulous project directions for babies. I found it easy to understand and not only does it give directions for baby quilts it has other projects as well--pillows, carrying bags, etc. I would recommend this book to everybody.
