How to repair body, mind and spirit through God's healing love is the subject of this practical, readable, and insightful guidebook. In material organized into four major sections, the author--an experienced physical therapist and lay catechist--offers counsel and instruction on the facets of healing that include how to recognize the need to seek help, and how to use the resources of recovery-prayer, meditation, supportive relationships, forgiveness and ministry. For all these strengths, the greatest lies in its message of hope--that with the help of a loving God, we can effect our own healing.
Pragmatic and heartening, Healing: Stories of Faith, Hope, and Love is recommended for:
· anyone who needs healing
· therapists, catechists, students and teachers in RCIA and lay formation programs
This book includes a practical "For You" section at the end of each chapter designed to lead to healing experiences of God; step-by-step use of specific prayer forms for healing; and annotated bibliography.

Customer Reviews
Now this really is chicken soup for the soul!
Alkire has combined all the best elements of her previous books into this one guide. I become uplifted from reading others' stories of healing. Accompanying each are thoughts about developing our own faith life and enriching our relationship with Christ, so I find this book useful and inspirational.
Alkire's third book is her best yet...
Alkire's best work to date. An easy-to-read, ecumenical book with practical applications. There are real stories and examples that just about anyone can identify and relate to. A real "Chicken Soup for the Healing Soul" if you will, minus the fluffy commericialism.
God's grace revealed
Jan Alkire has written a book filled with inspirations and openings to the grace of God at work in our lives. So refreshing to find a book that doesn't limit God's healing to a few meager ways. It's a book I can pick up and use whenever I have a moment of solitude. Some chapters speak more clearly to me in the way I meet God, and some offer an opening, an awareness to how I might also find God if I broaden my horizons. It is truly a gem and would be a blessing to anyone who truly desires to see where God's grace is already at work in their lives... right where they are.
