Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal

Gr 5-7--A mixture of mostly simple experiments, facts, and activities that utilize easy-to-find objects. A few projects, such as making a model solar collector, are more involved. In each case, the materials needed are listed up front, and the diagrams and drawings are clear and helpful. Notation is made of the activities that require adult assistance and those that are suited for science fair projects. Shadows, eclipses, and the seasons are among the sun-related topics explored. Gardner includes more experiments of a simpler nature than Florence Adams's Catch a Sunbeam (Harcourt, 1978; o.p.). Advanced students may use the book as a starting place to get ideas that can then be expanded upon. A worthwhile addition.
