An error-filled compendium of facts
Yes, this book is humorous, but unintentionally so. For the most part, this book is supposed to give you lists of factoids which are supposed to help you play NTN trivia games. Unfortunately, there are so many errors in the book that it is useless.
Just for a few examples, in one of the first sections that is supposed to give you important historical dates, the very first date given tells you that dinosaurs died out in 1,000,000 B.C.. This is not a confidence-builder. You have to wonder about people who apparently get their paleontology from Raquel Welch movies.
Another howler is Napoleon invading and being defeated in Russia in 1807. Will someone tell Tchaikovsky to please correct the name of his overture?
When you see a page with perhaps six historical events listed (this book is pretty light on content, with lots of white space), and you find two or three date errors, this is just not acceptable in a book whose main purpose is to provide CORRECT data to be memorized.
If you wish to play trivia games better, buy a REAL reference book, not this.
A entertaining book !
Whether you are looking for a breezy bed time book
or a serious trivia read, Bar Games entertains the
reader with its funny graphics, trivia lists and a
question on every page.
I learned more about the offensive lineman of
politics, the Vice Presidents of the United States,
from Bar Games than I did in twelve years of
school.
For the serious NTN trivia player, studying the
section about British royalty in BAR GAMES will enable you to answer these frequently asked questions quickly.
BAR GAMES
I started playing NTN a year ago at a new Damon's restaurant here. It is really a lot of fun, and educational as well.
A friend gave me this book, BAR GAMES, as a holiday gift.
What a great read. History, Presidents, painters, etc.
I got a few more correct answers that I usually do , thanks to the book.
My teenage daughter is starting to read it, as well.
She will be an expert on painters before you know it.
