Each book illustrates three words per page, with sliding pictures to reveal the Spanish word on one side and the English word on the other. house-casa shows objects that youngsters can find around the house, like table, chair, and book. body-cuerpo illustrates not only body parts like hand, head, and foot, but also a few clothing items like shirt and button. The third book lists fun animals like ostrich, pelican, and flamingo. Each attractive illustration is matched with one clear, simple word. From the solid-color backgrounds to the mostly computer-generated images, everything seems carefully designed so as not to confuse a child learning to identify words. The inside of the front cover lists all the English words with Spanish phonetics, and the inside of the back cover lists all the Spanish words with their English phonetics. Working like flashcards, the sliding drawings offer an element of interactivity and an ingenious way of teaching a second language. However, they do not seem sturdy enough for heavy public library usage. This collection is highly recommended for personal use and language immersion programs. There is no doubt that our children are growing up in an increasingly diverse and multi-cultural world. THANK YOU and BRAVO!!!!!!! Or should I say, "OLÉ."
As a mother of semi-bilingual children and as a public school teacher of ESOL and foreign languages at the grade school level in Miami, FL., I am thrilled to have come across your products...which I now use at home and, occasionally, in the classroom. My young children and students are captivated by the colors and images and readily absorb the basic vocabulary presented and are now better able to distinguish their use in the different languages (English - Spanish of HOUSE-CASA) ...undoubtedly the combined audio and visual stimuli meet the needs and interests of the computer literate, video-game oriented youngsters. I have recommended the purchase of HOUSE-CASA to parents of elementary school children with limited English proficiency (LEP, recent arrivals to our land-pais) and also, to parents of monolingual/English-only children who wish to help their youngsters establish a foundation for Spanish and other languages. I believe the earlier a child is exposed to other languages the better the chances or aptitude for learning various languages (multilingualism), general vocabulary and writing skills. Too bad you weren't around 15 years ago when I first started to teach in this multilingual environment...but, please, keep up the good work and get some more titles out for pre-school and kindergarten... ASAP ... French and Haitian Creole would be ideal for Miami!!!!! And get more support materials on the shelf: books, posters, games, etc.

Great book
Both of my kids enjoy this book. My 4 1/2 year old uses it to learn the spanish words and my 1 1/2 year old uses it to learn his first words. The pictures are engaging to both kids and this book keeps them occupied for quite a while. We may even have to buy a second copy since often times they both want to read it at the same time! I also highly recommend the accompanying video/dvd which the kids enjoy equally as much.
