Gourd pyrography is a fancy phrase for the folk art of using heat to carve and scorch gourds. These beautiful objects are found in Nigeria, Kenya, Mali, Ghana, Senegal, China, Peru, Mexico, New Guinea, and the South Pacific. Early methods, involving fire and burning coals, have been superseded by modern tools and solid-state wood-burning systems. what instructions it did have were ok but there just were not enough of them.

This is the definitive book in pyrography on gourds. The photography is beautifully done and the book is chock full of great ideas. If you haven't tried pyrography on gourds - or on anything else, give it a go. It's habit forming!
