About the Author
Chester P. Lyons is best known for his field guides on the plants of British Columbia and the rest of the Pacific Northwest but that only touches the surface of his considerable contribution to the natural history of the region. Lyons, who died in Hawaii in 1998 at the age of 83, was an avid naturalist, outdoorsman, nature writer and film maker of natural history subjects. As head of the B.C. Parks Service in its formative years, Chess was involved in exploring and planning the Wells Gray, Tweedsmuir, Manning and Bowron Lake Parks. He also directed the restoration of the famous old gold rush town of Barkerville. After retiring from public service, he toured extensively across North America, presenting films and lectures on the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest.

Trees & Shrubs of Washington is a good book of Info4
Impressively illustrated with glorious full color photographs of the many trees and shrubs of Washington, serene woodlands carpeted with lush plants, this is the one to read and study. If you know of anyone with trees and shrubs on their minds, this is a unique book for identifing Washington trees and shrubs. I give it four starts only because it could use more pictures to help in the identification of trees and shrubs. It is one of the easiest books to use. Very well done!

Nice book for price4
I'm glad I got this small, easy to carry book. It has lots of color pictures as well as interesting info on each of the plants reviewed. My only criticism is that there should be pictures illustrating the specific traits to look for when keying out a tree or shrub (they provide good written descriptions, but a photo would be EXTREMLY helpful).
