Simply enchanting!
My preschooler and I love pop-up books, and I especially appreciate the fine paper crafting that goes into some of these works. "The Enchanted Dolls' House Wedding" is one such example of beautiful paper crafting. Based on the premise that magical things take place in dollshouses after midnight, this book begins with a page where a beautiful blue cupboard reveals [it's lift the flap] amazing treasures within, and there's a special invitation to Lucinda Jane & Albert Thomas' wedding contained within a beautifully embossed white envelope. The rest of the pages contain many delights:
"An Edwardian Outing" which gives some background information on the history of the period, including delightful things like a pull-out pamphlet that shows one how to go about creating an Edwardian hairstyle, complete with illustrations!
A pop-up of a miniature department store [this is simply gorgeous, and the attention to detail is amazing!]
"Edwardian Discoveries" - includes an envelope that contains a paper fan and a secret note for a rendezvous.
"Victorian Wedding" - contains beautiful illustrations as well as information on how weddings were conducted during the time.
A full pop-up of a miniature Victorian Chapel.
"A Victorian Wedding" - the focus in on the couple, and there is a beautifully embossed envelope containing the dolls' marriage certificate as well as a wedding album.
"The Wedding Breakfast" - once again, the two pages abound in beautiful illustrations of the wedding cake, etc.
