The Rest of The Story
A wonderful book; unfortunately the publisher doesn't tell anything about the authors. Charles Hurlburt was a founder of Africa Inland Mission in the 1890's, and was responsible for missionaries first being allowed by the Belgian government into Congo. He left a huge legacy in Africa, including children and grandchildren who have served God in Africa.
One grandson, Win Hurlburt, who was born in Congo, has served Christ in Africa for well over forty years. Through Africa Resource Ministries (www.africaresourceministries.org) he is carrying out God's vision through training and equipping African pastors, evangeists and church planters in Congo, Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda and Sudan. There are over fifty eight week Portable Bible Schools going on in these countries this Spring.
I had the priviledge of teaching these men and women in March of this year and read from this book to them each day. My hope is to provide a copy for each student who goes through the one year bible training at the centers in Uganda and DR Congo, of which there are approaching 250 graduates each year.
Finding power in the wonderful names of our Lord!
This book is one book which caught my eye, and a strong magnetic pull made me pick it up. As I was flipping through the book, I saw the many names and titles of our God, with their respective Scripture references and a brief devotion for each of the names of our precious Lord.
This book will be one of my most treasured, as each time I pick it up, I find it hard to put down, as my eyes and heart want to go on reading...
Wonderfully Inspiring
I have found this book to be full of simple thoughts about the character of God, thoughts which often surprise me. That element of surprise is inspiring. It helps me see the Lord in a different light, something I may not have thought of before or something I knew already but just hadn't thought of in a long while. That is refreshing. All of these thoughts are based on a small portion of scripture and are a nice addition to my daily scripture reading and study.
