Lysergic is the story of Krystle Cole and her involvement with LSD chemists Gordon Todd Skinner and William Leonard Pickard. Pickard and Skinner had an LSD lab in a missile silo in Kansas. When it was busted by the DEA, it was reported to have been producing 90% of the world's supply. Throughout her time with them she took many rare psychedelics such as mescaline, ergot wine, DMT, ALD-52, 2-CI, and others. She explains what each entheogen felt like and how it spiritually impacted her life afterward. The 2nd edition also contains letters that Skinner wrote to her from prison.

A peek behind the curtain...
Cole, a smart young woman from Kansas, is picked up by G. Todd Skinner, a rogue psychopharmacologist who was involved for a time in producing 1/3 of the world's LSD, and swept into a world of high-power drug deals, shady exchanges with Big Brother and entheogenic (psychedelic) experiences.
The book is written from her perspective about the events that transpired over the 3 or so years that she lived with Skinner. We learn about such exciting things as: the jet-set life of a drug chemist, how to launder huge amounts of money, how the DEA protects drug creation/distribution, and the bust and subsequent trial of Skinner and accomplices. As well as: what it's like to take such exotic entheogens as Ergot (Templar) Wine, DMT, and ALD-52, the effects that these compounds and concoctions had on her physically, psychologically and spiritually, and personal realizations such as the reality of telepathy, non-duality and the fickle nature of our perceptions.
I did have a few problems with the book, however. I feel that she didn't go into as much depth as I would have appreciated throughout most of the book. It seemed like we got more of a gloss of what was actually going on. Another problem was the fact that I can't tell if the book was linear or not, though I think the latter. And, her narrative is a mixture of what happened and her philosophical interpretation of what happened, which is organized haphazardly.
All in all, it's definitely a worthwhile read. There is a lot of stuff in this book which I'm glad was released honestly to the public. She is confident in her convictions and clearly not a disinformationist. This is bound to become a collectable for psychonauts who can relate with her experiences and scholars who specialize in government shenanigans.
bait and switch
I was very excited to read this book, especially after all the events that occurred during this time. However, it is poorly written, offering no real insights into psychedelic experiences beyond "maaan, i was really high", nor into the actual historical events that the author participated in. I assume this was because she was a witness in the trial, but since she was also charged with crimes, I was hoping to hear her side of the story. Overall, I was just disappointed. All of the info in the book is pretty much available through her videos on neurosoup.
Real Info About the Book
Lysergic 2nd Edition includes 90 pages of letters written by Gordon Todd Skinner while he was in prison awaiting trial. It is a large 8" by 10" book. It includes Krystle's trips on many different enthogens during the time period before and after the Pickard LSD bust. She discusses a wide range of topics like the Godhead and Cosmic Consciousness, telepathy, fear, integration, and using mantras and mudras to change her headspace while tripping. She also discusses many of the particulars regarding the Pickard case and gives you a behind the scenes look into the LSD chemists daily lives.
Some of the trips she decribes are also described in the NeuroSoup youTube videos, but only about 20 pages worth out of the 200 page book.
As a sidenote: An e-book version of Lysergic can be read for free in the NeuroSoup Members Only Area.
