All Eden Warner knows is that every minute her students spend waiting for the press conference with mayoral hopeful Chase Mathews to begin is another minute of nonlearning. Chase hears Eden expressing her views on drive-by photo ops, and volunteers to take Eden's suggestion to spend more time in the schools to learn about the challenges teachers face. Chase is smitten with Eden for her looks, and her rapport with her students. She is reluctant to get involved, however, believing that a relationship may lose him the election: she is black and he is white. Carmichael's typical contemporary romance is laced with the atypical aspects of an interracial relationship in the public eye, making this novel both enjoyable and thought-provoking. Maria Hatton

Love is Love.....
Giselle Carmichael delivers a novel that can be compared to one of the best African American interracial novelists of our time - Ms. Sandra Kitt.
Politics of Love is a steamy romance novel that covers the building relationship between mayoral incumbent, Chase Matthews and third grade school teacher, Eden Warner.
Upon first sight, Chase Matthews is immediately blown away by the very sight of Eden at her school during a scheduled press conference to promote his platform on education. Eden, as well, is struck by the sheer
handsomeness of Chase Matthews but is a little miffed at his choice of using her public school as a conduit for possible mayoral votes, not knowing that her principal is one of his best friends. By happenstance, Chase overhears Eden speaking to one of her fellow teachers about her displeasure in using the school as such a platform and decides to call her bluff and work in her school to get a better understanding of the very
educational platform he is trying to promote.
An instant attraction ensues but the interracial undertones are prevalent, not because Eden who is African American or the fact that Chase is white, but for the sake of Chase's political constituents and their prejudices of interracial couples. To ensure Eden of his sincerity he quotes to her his Politics of Love, hence the title.
Ms. Carmichael delivers a lovely novel filled with steamy love scenes, romance and promise. The topic of interracial relationships was clearly researched allowing the author to deliver an interesting romance. A bit of mystery was interwoven into the story which gave the outcome an
interesting twist. The family dynamic is touched upon with success where the families deal with the interracial concerns and the affect it could have, not on their relationship, but on Chase's political career. I look forward to more from Ms. Carmichael.

All's fair in love and politics
What started as a person eavesdropping on a private conversation turns into a wonderful love story. THE POLITICS OF LOVE begins with Eden Warner who is angry with mayoral candidate, Chase Mathews because he is disrupting the education of her students by using them for his campaigning agenda. She all but says he doesn't have a real interest in the school system, but she doesn't count on him overhearing her conversation. Chase who is a bit peeved by her statement is completely enamored with Eden physically but he also loves her passion for education and issues an ultimatum. So for one week Chase is in Eden's classroom, not only charming the students and faculty, but her as well.
The couple's immediate attraction also came with issues; Eden is dealing with family problems and Chase is struggling with trust. The couple must also deal with the rigors of campaigning, their blossoming feelings for one another and someone who is trying to derail their involvement. Eden not wanting to cause Chase the election by alienating his constituents who may not be so accepting of interracial relationships. She tries to give Chase an easy out, but she underestimates his persistence. With all they must face, Eden and Chase manage to carve out a romantic and fulfilling relationship, but they must be willing to be strong and believe in their love for one another.
THE POLITICS OF LOVE is a fast-paced and believable romance. The story is part of the imprint Noire Fever, which presents interracial romance stories. The characters were well-drawn and Carmichael handled the interracial issues very well without sticking to a lot of stereotypes. The suspense of the campaign and the bumps in the road for the couple keeps the story flowing. Carmichael also delivered some very erotic and sexy love scenes. Carmichael had me vested in these characters from the beginning. I laughed, got mad and even had some misty-eyed moments because I was really touched by this story. I truly hated for the story to end because the love between Eden and Chase sensually leaped from the pages and it reminded me of why I love to read a good solid romance story.

Awe That's so Romantic
I have mixed feelings for this book. I don't think it was a real page turner but it did have the normal ingredients that makes a good interracial romance novel. I took a few months off from reading these kinds of books, I guess you can say I was burned out. Politics of Love got me back into reading and it was worth it. Eden was sweet, smart and devoted to making people happy. But I felt like she was too over the top. While Chase, not only did I love the name but the looks, he seemed somewhat believable. Some novels that I have read in the past the male character comes off as being macho, and then like most interracial novels they meet thier match when they fall head over heels inlove with a woman of the opposite race. Chase was just sweet and did not come across as macho. I believed thier love story, and thought they belonged together. I don't know maybe I am waiting for an interracial romance novel to be different from the rest, And Politics of Love was definately not it. But if you want to be entertained and say awe that's so romantic out loud as you read then this is the book for you.
