Whether your pile of scraps needs thinning out or you simply love the well-planned scrappy look, this collection of favorite quilts and wall hangings utilizes scraps in both traditional and contemporary ways.
8 quilts: Make Your Point (color placement makes Pinwheel and 16-Patch blocks appear to be set on point); Broken Dishes (showcasing favorite fabrics); Enjoy the Simple Life (appliqué message and blocks in country prints); Trail Mix (combining Four-Patch and Nine-Patch variations); Square Dance (a diamond pattern emerges from simple squares and triangles); Living in the Past (inspired by a circa-1885 Ohio Star quilt); Centennial Pineapple (Log Cabin variation); and Country Charm (X blocks with floral appliqué).

A wonderful way to use up those hard to throw away scraps
This booklet contains eight delicious ways to use up those scraps you just can't throw out. No only can you use up the small pieces, you can create an optical illusion with "Make Your Point". This quilt looks like the blocks are set on point but if you look closer you find that the colors used in it create the illusion of points. Not only are there quilts to make, there are table toppers and wall hangings. One even has a bit of appliqué that is added to the borders.
Each project has a color photo of what it will look like when completed. A list of materials that you need to create the project is provided along with how to cut the fabric. Instructions on how to put the project together is written in clear and easy to understand language. It also contains graphics of what the blocks look like in different stages of assembling. A couple of the projects even give and optional size chart so you could make the project to fit a twin, full/queen or even a king sized bed. There is also a color option to show you what using different colored fabric would create.
Templates are included for those projects that need them. And just to be sure you know what you are doing, there are three pages of general instructions explaining how to make templates, planning the cutting of the fabric and making miter borders to list just a few of what this section contains.
With SCRAP-LOVERS' QUILTS, your scrappy fabric and some time, you will have eight (or more if you make all the sizes!!) wonderful projects to give as gifts or use in your own home.
Good magazine
I bought this book for the cover quilt. I had been looking for a pattern for this for some time. For some reason I was expecting a larger book. However, the quilts are well illustrated and the instructions are clear. There are other patterns I would like to try and the alternative colour-ways provided always give food for thought.
Not very many designs
I loved the cover design, but when I got the book there weren't very many other designs in the book that I liked.
