Customer Reviews
Highly recommended
Wanting to introduce my young daughter to the world of books, my wife reached for this book. Made with sturdy cardboard pages, the book is filled with lots of bright and clear pictures of animals, with simple words and concepts to move a young reader along. Now, please note that the title is actually "Happy Baby: Animals," and only some of the pictures are of baby animals.
But, we did find this to be a nice book, one that my own baby likes looking through. My wife and I highly recommend this book!
Great little baby book
My twins received this book among many other books when they were born, and this was the one they reached out for first. From early as 3 months old, I would flip through the book page by page, and show them the pictures and say the names of the animals, and they would look at the pictures and really seemed to pay attention. As they grew a little older, they would get excited when they saw certain animals, like the lion or the butterfly. I think my twins prefer books with photographs instead of drawings, and so Happy Baby Animals really captured their interest. Also, the small size of the book is suited for their little hands and they can grasp the book and turn the pages for themselves. My twins are now one year old, and though the pages have become a little battered, I am still getting mileage out of this book.
Durable, educational and fun!
I absolutely love the "Happy Baby" books, and so does my daughter. This animal one is no exception.
The photos are bright and eye-catching. My daughter would point to an image, and I'd name the animal. Then she'd point to my mouth, and I'd make the sound. As time went on, I'd ask her where a certain animal was, and she'd point. Then I'd say "What does the ____ say?" and she'd make the sound.
I like how the animals are grouped in the book -- pets, barnyard animals, barnyard birds, zoo animals, water animals, etc. There are even sections titled "Happy families," "Animal patterns," "Who's my baby?" "Why I'm different," "Matching colors," etc.
These books went to church with us, and they kept her quiet throughout the whole mass. They've also been to restaurants, grandparents' houses, and on long car rides. They have all held up to her chewing on them, throwing them, and turning pages quite roughly.
I have purchased copies of this particular book for several friends who were expecting, and they also love this book. It's durable, educational and fun!
