About the Author
William Secord was the founding director of the Dog Museum of America and is currently the owner of a gallery in New York City specialising in nineteenth century dog and animal art. He has written numerous articles concerning the dog in art and is also the author of Dog Painting 1840-1940, A Social History of the Dog in Art and Dog Painting: The European Breeds also published by Antique Collectors' Club. An acknowledged expert in the field, Secord has lectured extensively on dog painting.
