A treasure-trove of pictorial references for the Tiffany enthusiast
A large number of items have been reproduced from photographs in the firm’s original albums, twenty-five years of auction catalogues and other archival sources; many have also been reproduced in spectacular color
Illustrates over 2,000 items, each one cross-referenced in the index to its original model number in the inventory lists published over the years by the firm
This beautiful and comprehensive work illustrates a seemingly inexhaustible selection of the oil and electric light fixtures issued by the Tiffany studios: table and floor lamps, chandeliers and sconces. Also included are the other metalware items produced by the firm, including fancy goods, desk sets, miscellaneous household goods such as toiletry and smoking accessories, inkstands, candlesticks, photograph frames, book ends, tea screens, clocks, tobacco jars, humidors – the list is almost endless.
Tiffany Lamps and Metalware is the ultimate pictorial reference work for both enthusiasts and collectors of Tiffany. Each of the 2,000 items included is cross-referenced in the index, enabling the reader to determine the firm’s original model numbers and descriptions for practically all of its items.

About the Author
Alastair Duncan is an international consultant on nineteenth and twentieth century decorative arts and was, for fourteen years, a specialist and consultant on the subject for Christie's New York. He is the author of Louis C. Tiffany - The Garden Museum Collection and the Paris Salons series, also published by the Antique Collectors' Club.
Customer Reviews
Something old, something new, mostly borrowed....
If you have Duncan's earlier book "Tiffany at Auction" and a reasonably complete collection of Sotheby's and Christie's auction catalogs for items made by the Tiffany Studios, then this book will not add all that much to your body of knowledge.
It's mostly a clever repackaging of earlier works by Duncan, including all the B&W photos from Tiffany's promotional materials.
Having said that, I still bought it because it brings together a lot of materials from both auction catalogs and earlier works by Duncan.

A Bible For Tiffany Studios Collectors, Dealers or Appraisers
This book is similar to the Tiffany at Auction, but I like the way it is set up and frankly the auction prices are totally out of date now anyhow. Any serious collector of Tiffany gets all the major auction catalogs, so prices would be an unnecessary distraction in this reference book.
The details in the back and the sheer volume of information put into this huge (and very heavy) book shows considerable hard work and thought went into how to structure it and also how to show things best in photos and drawings from the early Tiffany Studios price lists. The quality of photos and drawings is excellent, and the information in this book is a must for any serious collector of Tiffany Studios items.
Mr. Duncan, aside from his reputation as the world's expert on Tiffany Studios lamps and other items, is obviously a major lover of Tiffany's talent. The way he talks about Tiffany items in the front of the book is a testament to his expertise, as well as his continued fascination and appreciation of Tiffany and all that Tiffany Studios created, some of which which are still being discovered. The book is worth much more than the price to anyone serious about Tiffany Studios items.
The new referrence guide to the works of The Tiffany Studios
With the advent of Duncan's new book 'Tiffany Lamps and Metalware' we have a NEW referrence guide that will surely replace 'Tiffany At Auction', also by Duncan. This will take place for two reasons - first - the cost of 'Tiffany At Auction' has become, like the lamps themselves, out of the reach of many prospective buyers and students of the Art Nouveau movement in America. Second - the new volume offers far more pieces to see so that those just getting into the collecting or the study of 'Tiffany' will be able to have a greater number of examples - both common and rare - that the individual may not have seen prior to this publication. A wonderful effort on the part of Mr. Duncan. And, at an affordable price!
