Editorial Reviews

Review
Virago have classified this in their autobiographies section, but it is, in fact, a series of essays that, in the same way as Houston's previous books Cowboys Are My Weakness and Waltzing the Cat, build up a picture of the author's thrill-seeking, wilderness-loving life. Houston is at her best when describing the raw beauty of the American mountains and rivers where she feels so at home, and her best writings are those that describe her activities as a tour guide, or the adrenaline rush of shooting river rapids. Prescribed reading for all women - inspirational, poetic accounts of a life lived to the full. (Kirkus UK)
