Knit Today:Look out for this informative and comprehensive book. It is a valuable reference for any lover of crochet with a wide selection of stitch patterns and techniques. There are 36 linear stitch patterns and 19 in-the-round motifs that can be used for many different projects and ideas. The book presents them as morsels that can then be combined to create rugs and throws as a decorative reference that can inspire you again and again. The book then progresses to colour work where 30 squares are charted as cololurful patterns that can all be extended and worked in any shade you like. Carrying on further than many other crochet books, Renate then shows how to work another 36 patterns in Tunisian crochet and 30 ways with crochenit, a derivative of Tunisian crochet. As well as being an extensive collection of patterns for an avid crocheter, the book is also an excellent primer for anyone who is new to crochet. The basics of the technique are thoroughly and clearly explained in down to earth language and excellent diagrams and is an excellent source.

Great afghan sampler book
Written by an Australian teacher of crochet, this book is a great way to learn a lot of interesting sts while making a lovely "rug". For Americans these rugs are actually afghans as the yarn used is dk or worsted with G or H hooks. Each of the 5 projects is a sampler and instructions are written out in both English and American terminology as well as symbols and a symbol guide. First is a classic 36 st sampler with mainly familiar patterns. Then a hexagon sampler (motifs) of 19 patterns. Jacquard is third with 30 patterns, Tunisian sampler with 36 patterns and finally crochenit with 30 patterns.
Crochenit uses a double-ended hook. Print and paper is good and lots of color for the instructions. Binding seems pretty sturdy in this oversize paperback. Book can be compared to the Tracy and Levin "Crochet your way" with a lot of explanatory material throughout the book. I didn't see entrelac crochet among the squares and there is no index. While I haven't made anything yet, I find the book to be very impressive with a wealth of material seldom found in any of my other books. Highly recommended to all crocheters and especially for those wanting to learn new methods.
Thanks very much.
