Nice ABC Book, Babies Enjoy It!
BRIAN WILDSMITH'S ABC has been a fun addition to my baby's book collection. The excerpt Amazon offers will give you a good idea of Wildsmith's style. If you like that picture, you will likely enjoy the entire book.
While alphabet books are not as immediately appealing as story books, they are supposed to help with early reading. My experience with BRIAN WILDSMITH'S ABC certainly suggests that. I have been reading this both to my 10-month-old son and a 22-month-old friend for a month. Both enjoy it, especially my son.
The 22-month-old learned several words for the first time out of reading BRIAN WILDSMITH'S ABC. The vocabulary is a nice mix of familiar and unusual: armadillo, butterfly, cat, dog, elephant, fish, goat, horse, iguana, jaguar, koala, lion, mouse, nest owl, peacock, queen, rooster, snail, turtle, unicorn, violin, weasel, xylophone, yak and zebra.
While BRIAN WILDSMITH'S ABC is not one of the first books I reach for, I think it has been a good addition and will help my son learn to read.
