Meet the men of Special Task Force Zeta. . .
Trey: Special operative Trey Williams doesn't want a girlfriend, nor does he need one in his life. A distracted soldier is a dead soldier, that's his motto. The problem is, the woman who has been recruited to pose as his wife on a special assignment is proving to be more of a distraction than Trey can handle. What's a soldier to do?
Jack: Ordered by his superiors to take time off for his "mental health", Jack Gordon heads back to his hometown for two weeks of R&R. But then he meets Nicki Camp, the new hand his brother has just hired to help out at the family farm. Is Nicki playing hard to get, or is she hiding something? Jack knows one thing. . .he isn't going to rest until he finds out!
Jimmy: Jimmy Gordon has learned during his career in the Special Forces that he can handle pretty much anything, including pretending to be everything from a banquet waiter to a terrorist, while undercover. But there is one thing he finds he's having a bit of difficulty handling, and that's the governor's hot red-headed daughter, Amelia Monroe-Carrington. Maybe the time for pretending is over?

Is there anything sexier than a military man in uniform, except a military man out of uniform?
Is there anything sexier than a military man in uniform, except a military man out of uniform? Join three members of the Special Task Force Zeta as their `assignments' lead them into the hands of the women who will own their hearts.
TREY
The last thing Trey wants is a girlfriend, especially one whom his buddy, Jack, believes he loves. His motto is "a distracted soldier is a dead soldier" and the sexy bartender would definitely be a huge distraction.
Carly actually owns the bar near the military base. Jack has been hitting on her for years and she always shoots him down. She has a policy against getting involved with military men.
Fate intervenes when Carly is recruited to pose as Trey's wife for a special assignment and they both break all their own personal rules. But what happens when the assignment's over and they return to their regular lives?
Trey and Carly's relationship is thrilling in its intensity and is made even more exciting by the nature of their assignment. What fascinated me was Jack and Trey's friendship and the fact that Trey was willing to pass up any possibility of a chance with Carly just because he Jack's made his feelings for her known.
JACK
The entire unit is force to a two-week furlough by the big wigs who decided that they don't get enough free time. Jack decides to head to his hometown to visit with his family and get over his bruised heart. Jack's still dejected that Carly fell in love with Trey instead of him. He's happy for them both but it's still painful to see them together.
Nicki has recently been hired on at the Gordon family farm. Originally from New York, she had to flee from New York and is now hiding from thugs. They'd never think to look for her in Pigeon Hollow.
Jack returns home nursing a bruised heart. He's definitely not looking to get involved with anyone. He just needs a little rest and relaxation time with his family. Nicki's answers to anything Jack asks her seem vague and stir up his suspicions. He has Matt, the computer guru, check to see what he can find out about Nicki. What he learns has him wondering exactly what has Nicki on the run.
I felt bad for Jack when I first started reading this story, but he quickly forgets his feelings for Carly once he meets Nicki. He becomes engrossed in finding out all her secrets. I love the playful banter between Nicki and Jack. I especially enjoyed the way all the members of the unit join forces to protect Nicki even though they are all supposed to be on a forced leave.
JIMMY
Over the course of his career with the Special Forces Jimmy has successfully navigated through many uncomfortable situations and pretended to be a variety of different people. It is during his one night stint as a waiter that he first meets Amelia, and the following morning he's sent on assignment as a terrorist in Kosovo.
Lia is the redheaded daughter of the governor. She hates all the stuffy cocktail parties that she`s obligated to attend. She especially hates that her father and the senator are dead set on her marrying John Dickson the third, the senator's conceited son. She's much more interested in a different sort of man. Even six months after the fateful night she spent with a waiter named `James' Amelia still looks for him at every cocktail party she attends.
Jimmy had thought about calling Lia before shipping out to Kosovo but he's smart enough to know that she's a rich society girl and he was just her boy toy for the night. It never occurred to him that their one night of bliss might have meant as much to her as it did him. He's kept her phone number in his wallet, but never expected to see her again. Imagine his surprise when the governor arrives at the Gordon's home for a meeting with the local farmers and accompanying him is none other than the young woman Jimmy has been unable to forget, only her name is Amelia.
I had already been very curious about Jimmy from both the first story and the fact that he is Jack's brother so this story is the perfect one to end this anthology. They'd spent only one night together six months ago but neither Jimmy nor Amelia are able to forget about each other and time has not cooled their ardor either. I love that Amelia is not a little snotty rich girl, but even if she had been Jimmy won't allow her to tell him what to do, especially when she gets demanding while they're in bed. As he says, he doesn't require instructions on lovin.'
TRILOGY NO. 103: RED HOT & BLUE is a thrilling series of stories revolving around three of the men of Special Task Force Zeta. Readers will fall in love with all three of these fine specimens of manhood and devour the pages. The heroines would be easy to be extremely jealous of if they weren't all such great characters that you'd love to have them as friends. Cat Johnson pens stories full of heart and laughter that you'll want to reread many times over. If you love all of the guys in this book then you'll want to check out TRUE BLUE (contains The Commander, Bull, and Matt's story) and HEROES UNWRAPPED (contains BB's story)

Red Hot & Blue
Trey
Trey Williams is a member of Special Task Force Zeta. He is happy with not having either a wife or girlfriend and does not really want one. He knows and believes that a distracted solider is a dead one. When not on a mission, Trey enjoys spending time with members of his team. Carly McAfee runs a bar just off of the base that several of the soldiers based there frequently come to. No matter how hard most of the solders try, Carly does not date military men. This is a rule that she absolutely follows every day. Unusual circumstances force Trey and Carly to work together on an undercover op. With the danger and their attraction to each other, will they be able to stick to their hard and fast rules?
Trey is the first of the stories about three of the Zeta team. Carly and Trey have to become other people so that they can save a member of the Zeta team. The closeness that begins during the op is almost destroyed by misunderstanding and then by their stubbornness. With the help of a friend, Trey and Carly find a way to discover just what their relationship can become. I found Trey to be a great beginning to the men of Special Task Force Zeta.
Jack
Jack Gordon is trying to overcome a wounded heart and, like the rest of his team, is being forced on a two-week "mental health" break. Jack decides to go home to his family's horse farm for the time. Nicki Camp has just started at the Gordon horse farm and is just beginning to feel safe there. Nicki knows that she really should be on the move again, but wants to believe that the people she is hiding from will never find her at the farm. What she isn't expecting is Jack coming home and instantly figuring out there is more to her than meets the eye. Jack soon learns that he doesn't have to save the family from Nicki, but rather he needs to protect Nicki from people who don't take no for an answer. With the help of members of the team, Jack and Nicki find a way to give her and her father's lives back to them. Now Jack needs to see if he can find a way to convince Nicki to take a chance on a secret soldier.
Jack shows us that when one door closes then a window can open up for romance. Jack has been hurt through no fault of any of the parties involved, and he goes home only to discover a perky new hand. Jack and Nicki have an unusual courtship that involves separating Nicki from a mobster. I thoughly enjoyed watching Jack and Nicki discover each other and their blossoming relationship.
Jimmy
Jimmy Gordon has been a member of the Zeta force longer than most members and has pretended to be many things during that time. Jimmy is assigned to go deep undercover, and something goes wrong with the mission. During the time he is held, Jimmy goes back over his memories of a night he spent just before he left for this assignment to keep him going. Amelia Monroe-Carrington is the daughter of the governor and spends her life going to many appearances with her father. It is a life she finds boring and not exciting for the most part. During a meeting at the Gordon horse farm, Amelia discovers the mystery man from many months ago that she spent the best night she can remember with. Jimmy and Amelia have to get past misunderstandings, deliberate untruths and society expectations in order to have the future they both want with the other.
Jimmy is the last of the Zeta force visited in this book. Jimmy, like the other members of the team, believes that relationships just won't work for special force members. However, when given another chance with Amelia, he is willing to do whatever it takes to keep her with him even if it means walking away from the job he loves. Amelia discovers she will love Jimmy no matter where they are and what they are doing. I found their characters and how they worked together to be the perfect ending for the book.
TRILOGY NO. 103: RED HOT & BLUE lets the reader see a segment of the lives of three Special Task Force Zeta members: Trey, Jack and Jimmy. Through their eyes, I followed them during a time that forever changed their lives and the loves they each found. The sensuality found in each story and within all the characters is supplemented by humor and of course a loving relationship that none of them ever expected. Ms. Johnson separated the stories, but combined them in such a way that they intertwined within each other and made this book one I will happily reach for again and again.
