Product Description
As our planet's air, water, and soil grow warmer, its wildlife hunts for new habitats when old ones become unlivable. Countless species are on the move, from tiny corals to towering pine trees, from slow-flying butterflies to fast-swimming whales, and from curious penguins to fearless polar bears. They're in search of cooler waters, thicker forests, or higher ground. Award-winning science writer Tam O'Shaughnessy draws on the latest scientific findings to describe Earth's changing ecosystems in an exciting, clear, and accessible way. Packed with dozens of full-color photographs and illustrations.

About the Author
Tam O'Shaughnessy has been interested in science since she was a little girl. One of her favorite childhood memories is of watching tadpoles in a creek gradually sprout legs, go green, and turn into frogs. She studied biology in college, earning B.S. and M.S. degrees. While teaching college biology, she became interested in how kids learn and went on to earn her Ph.D. in school psychology from the University of California, Riverside. Tam finds her work with Sally Ride Science irresistible-keeping girls and boys interested in science through innovative science publications and programs. Tam has written eight children's science books, including The Third Planet (co-authored with Sally Ride), which won the American Institute of Physics Children's Science Writing Award.
