Amazon.com Review
Outdoor lounges are excellent for barbecues, afternoon lemonade breaks, and summer tanning sessions. Crafted from beautiful Western red cedar, this chaise longue is 62 inches long and features hidden steel-rod reinforcements to help it endure years of outdoor use. Sealed with a clear preservative to weather rain and snow, the cedar with mortise-and-tenon joinery will last for years to come. The seat is wide (24 inches across) and offers three angles: fully upright, reclined, and almost completely flat, encouraging hours of outdoor leisure. Assembly was relatively easy thanks to wing-nut tightening, but the cryptic directions slowed us down, and it took 45 minutes to get the chaise together. --Ariel Meadow Stallings

Managing Expectations!
You obviously are looking at this item because you enjoy the natural beauty of wood. Otherwise you would have already purchased some ugly resin or aluminum lounge at Target or Walmart.
For a small investment in time, money, and effort you can have a good quality lounge at a great price. I took up another reviewer's advise and spent a little extra time sanding a few rough spots and finishing it off with a nice marine varnish.
If you just want to buy it and put it together you'll most likely find that it doesn't meet all your expectations (It's not teak, so don't expect the same quality). The extra time I placed into it (.5 hour/lounge) made it worth while and proved to be very gratifying.
You don't need to be craftsman to make some self improvements. All you need is:
- A fine grit sandpaper (to buff a few rough spots)
- Varnish (buy at either a marine store or even Lowes/Depot)
- Brush
- Cost = $$
* I did have to use some wood glue for a loose but unconcerning piece.
My thought process on an average rating of 4:
Quality = 3
Looks = 5
Comfort = 4
It's not TEAK, but for the price...
You can't go wrong buying this Chaise Lounge. As noted by others, it does need a little sanding here and there. Another minor nit is the 'back' needs to be a few inches taller, or I need to be a few inches shorter. It's not quite tall enough to support my head while sitting upright. If not for that I'd probably give it a 5 star rating.
Actual assembly time was about 1/2 hour, not including sanding and applying a finish. I finished mine with Sikkens synthetic marine varnish as I plan on leaving the chair outside year round and it's the only product I've found thus far that holds up for a few years before it needs to be recoated. It also gives the chair the look of teak without the $$$. Due to the salt air near me I also spent $(...) in stainless steel hardware to upgrade the hardware that comes with the chair.
The REAL story here is Amazon.com. One of the chairs arrived damaged. I emailed Amazon and they immediately shipped out a replacement. Service as it should be. They deserve 5 STARS for that.
Very nice chaise to lounge around in. This is the life !
I purchased 2 of these mainly because of the price. I really enjoy them. My husband put them together. ( He was so happy to get to use his power drill) It took about less than a 1/2 hour to put each together. This chair is sturdy but I would't say its top quality. The wood quality is so-so. But what can you expect for the price? The chair's slide out table is very functional. We lie out on them in the evening on these breezy summer nights with a cup of tea , look at the stars, and just talk. This is the life !
