Cordoba exemplifies Villeroy & Boch's versatility in producing casual as well as formal dinnerware. Part of the company's Switch 3 collection, the six Cordoba 10-1/2-inch porcelain dinner plates in this set mix and match with Castell, Costa, Corsica, and Corfu dinnerware pieces. The various lines feature birds, a recurring leaf design, and a checkerboard pattern that showcase blue, white, green, and yellow. Any combination can be chosen to set a cheerful, personalized table.

On each Cordoba dinner plate, the broad border alternately frames birds and flowers rendered in shades of blue and white around a plain white center. A thin green band completes the rim decoration, adding color that can be picked up in napkins and other tableware. Other Cordoba pieces feature the blue leaf design that also appears in the Castell line. Pros:
1) Very durable - they handle all sorts of abuse in our household including getting banged into the faucet while being washed.
2) The ability to mix and match the corresponding patterns is nice. If I get tired of a particular design, I can simply change it.
3) These dishes are dishwasher and microwave safe.
4) The patterns are very versatile and are perfect for both everyday use and for formal occasions. This is great for households with limited storage - instead of two sets of dishes (one everyday, one formal), you only need one set and just switch around your table accessories.

Cons:
1) This isn't really a "con" per se, but a warning: These are microwave safe, but be careful! We microwaved something one time and I guess we set the time for two long, because when the food became superheated it literally cracked the plate it was on (note: it was not the Cordoba dinner plate). When we took the plate back to the store, we were advised that nothing is entirely "microwave safe" and you just have to be careful. Just thought you should know...

Overall, I would highly recommend any Villeroy & Boch set, based on our very positive experience with our set. ENJOY!

Impressive
I ordered these plates because they are no longer availble in stores. I had the whole set of these, but over the years a few plates have broken and chipped. I needed some replacements. What a great buy. I am very pleased!!!
