Preschool fundamentals--including shapes, colors, and the alphabet--are the focus of this one-hour program set in the after-school learning center familiar to viewers of Barney & Friends. Today, everyone is preparing for an art show, which provides plenty of scope for Barney's gentle tutorials on circles, squares, reds, and blues, while he incorporates beloved songs such as "Mister Sun." Viewers will be inspired by the students' art projects (which are easily replicated at home) as well as the lesson on mixing colors to create new hues. Then it's off to Baby Bop's tea party, a perfect segue into the realm of ABC's. As Baby Bop learns to spell her name, there are plenty of rhyming games and alphabet songs to incite audience participation. While lacking the originality of some of Barney's earlier music videos, there is no denying this lineup of merry songs and feel-good familiarity make this a cozy stroll into Barney's world. A Little Misleading
Due to the title I assumed that this DVD would primarily focus on the alphabet, something my daughter and I have been working on over the last couple of months, you can imagine my surprise when the entire first 21 mins of the video was just shapes. Of course if you're more careful then I am about reading the information and finding out everything about the DVD, then you will find yourself with a great video for learning a lot about shapes and a little about your ABC's. My daughter knows all her shapes so it didn't help us much, but I will save it for my son for when we are working on his shapes. Also I like to know how long these things are and can't seem to find the info, this DVD is 126 mins long including special features, it has a bonus episode that is 30 mins long.

Some ABCs, Shapes and Colors!
Yes, the title is misleading and the ABC's is just a third of this video. However, What most people don't know and Amazon does not show on "Product Details" is that most of Barney's videos have a Spanish soundtrack. So on the menu for Languages you can change it to Spanish! I kept looking for Spanish videos as I want my child to be bilingual, and when I bought this video is was a nice surprise, when you change the language you see the SAME video dubbed in Spanish. Yes, weird the words do not match the lips, but the songs have the same rhythm! and kids already know and love the video and can easily get the connection and learn it in Spanish! I bought this and the numbers video.

barney is always good for toddlers
really entertained my 18mth old but definetly not a video to learn your abc's this video is mostly colors and shapes theres alot of songs and bright colors and a small part to learn abcs my daughter did learn to say red and abc so it is a great addition to our collection
