noise for your children5
Overall a great cd. It trys to cover a lot of ground and i believe succeeds in some cases, and doesn't in others. Definitly looking forward to their next release, and i definitly recommend any fans of DHR and WARP records to pick this up.

a warning, there is a WHOLE lot of noise on this album, i love it, but other listeners beware... Great cd to listen to on recreational substances, but then again, what isn't.

an interesting mix4
I bought this CD when I couldn't find the CDs I was looking for. I had no idea what I was purchasing. The first time listening to it, I didn't really know what to think because there were so many sounds to listen to. After listening a couple of times, I must say that I was starting to get into the songs and was starting to figure them out.
Some of the songs are segmented into unrelated parts making the music jolting at times and when first listening to it, I thought my CD was skipping. If you are looking for coherent music, this is not the CD to get. And perhaps if you are an Aphex Twin or Squarepusher fan, you may be slightly disappointed for there is plenty of room for originality from Defragmented.
But I give the CD a lot of credit since it does a great exploration of electronic sounds-from noise to jungle to drum beats...and besides, who doesn't like the "meep meep" from the roadrunner?
I agree with another review, to help enjoy the CD even more, an outside influence could be of some help. Enjoy!

Shake your brains4
Self Construct by Defragmentation is a harsh visit into the world of jungle, noise, experimental, and industrial. It sounds like a combination of Download and Atari Teenage Riot.

The drum beats are relentless and intricate, and the samples emerge in explosions. Brief moments of melody are ... by brutal bursts of noise and burbles of digital effects.

This is what industrial is supposed to be all about, isn't it?

If you expect to hear four on the floor rhythms, you'll be sorely disappointed. However, if you want something to shake your brains up, Defragmentation will do the trick quite unnicely.
