In fact, it dries into clear crystal that coats the mite's food source and within two weeks their populations are greatly reduced. A recent medical study indicates that after eight weeks nearly every mite in carpet or furniture will be dead and won't come back between treatments. The 8-oz. bag dissolves to cover 200 sq.ft.of carpet when used as a spray (or 100 sq. ft. when used in a wet extraction. For best results, treat twice annually. As with all mite control products, begin your treatment in the bedroom first.Dustmite and flea control is the clean and natural way to kill dust mites & fleas and keep them away. Use as a spray or in a carpet steamer (or water extraction machine) to create an environment that is absolutely fatal to mites & fleas but is perfectly natural and harmless to your family and pets. Dustmite and flea control is not a harsh chemical or dangerous poison, but a natural Boron Compound much like the Borax used in laundry cleaning.

Dust mite death dust!
Powder that kills dust mites dead. It dissolves in water so you can put it in a spray bottle and spray it around the house on about any surface. Left no residue when I used it and there is no lingering odor that I can sense and my sniffer picks up on things other people do not detect.
Seems to have worked so far, but I'm uncertain as the little woman is fastidious about running the vacuum due to my allergy issues. We also use it on the laundry once in a while as well. I don't know if this is truly effective, I don't examine my sheets and carpets with a microscope, I just know that mites die when you expose them to this stuff (surfactants - it's smothers the poor little allergy monsters). I used to work in a pet shop with reptiles and we had to use something like this to kill mites off every so often when a mite infested batch of critters came in. This is "old school" stuff but it's not an insecticide that the mites get immune to. Kind of like using alcohol on bacteria, it will always work.
