Bay Leaves (Laurus Nobilis) are the leaves of the Bay Evergreen Tree that are commonly found in the Mediterranean region, though originally the tree was mostly likely from Asia Minor. Bay Leaves were used across the ancient world. In Greece and Rome, Bay Leaves were used to make crowns of laurel for athletes and poets. Hand selected Bay Leaves are dull green and are about 2-1/2 inches long. The jar contains 85% Whole Bay Leaves. These leaves are used to add a tangy, earthy flavor to a recipe.
