Like vacuuming your lawn!
This is the first reel mower I have owned and I've always been a gas mower fan. We moved to a new house with a smaller, terraced yard. The big, heavy gas mower was a challenge to get up and down the steps to mow the different levels so I wanted something smaller and lighter. I had read the reviews on reel mowers and the few disadvantages will still apply to the Mantis electric reel mower: mowing often because reel mower blades do not cut high grass well, going over weed stems a few times for the same reason... Just the nature of the item. But the advantages of an electric motor running the blades makes this item all worth it! You can seriously mow with one hand as very little energy is needed to cut your grass. The battery lasts a good hour or more, and even if it runs out, you have a normal reel mower left that cuts just as well with normal reel mower effort. My wife, who never cuts the grass, loves this mower and is light enough for her to carry up and down our steps. Very sturdy construction and safe as the electric motor has a kill switch when you are not at the helm. No expensive or smelly gas to add and very environmentally friendly. You really cannot go wrong with this item!

Bit of a let down
Love the idea, the quiet, not dragging a cord or sucking gas fumes, but this mower is turning out to be a prima dona. It locks up if we run over even small debris - like bits of pine cones or horse chestnuts. So we have to police yard before we mow.

The other problem has been the battery. I hope we got a lemon, but this battery doesn't hold sufficient charge to mow my front yard - which is a fairly small lot I plan to address this with the company, so may have an update to offer down the road. But right now I can't say I am happy with my purchase.

OK. LAWN MOWER
MADE OF PLASTIC AND THE BATTERY DOES NOT LAST. THE BLADE IS THE ONLY THING THAT IS MADE OF STEEL. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A VERY BIG YARD YOU CAN USE IT, I MEAN REALLY SMALL YARD, CONDO SIZE OR MOBILE HOME YARD.
