Aesthetics versus Function5
Here is some data I took comparing the current used by queen size warming blankets when set at their highest temperature setting. The blankets were made by Sunbeam, Biddeford and Perfect Fit. As the power factor of warming blankets is approximately unity the amount of heat a warming blanket provides is directly proportional to the amount of current the warming blanket draws from the power line.
Sunbeam
Current when first turned on = 1.7 amps
Current after 1 hour = 1.19 amps
Biddeford
Current when first turned on = 2 amps
Current after 1 hour = 1.44 amps
Perfect Fit
Current when first turned on = 1.72 amps
Current after 1 hour = 1.62 amps

The biggest surprise to me was even though the Perfect Fit said it wouldn't feel warm to the touch and it didn't feel warm to the touch after one hour of operation it drew more current than the Biddeford. The Biddeford did feel warm to the touch after 1 hour of operation. The only possible explanation I can think of for this is the Perfect uses many more heating elements than the Biddeford. In the Biddeford the heat is concentrated in fewer heating elements and each individual heating element gets warmer than each heating element in a Perfect fit.

I can see why so many people gave Perfect Fit a high rating. Its soft luxurious fabric and ultra thin wires are definitely appealing. As far as I can tell the Biddeford uses the same type of heating elements as Sunbeam. This means the resistance of the heating elements increases with temperature, will draw more current at startup and will come to operating temperature quicker than the Perfect Fit. Based on my limited experience both the Biddeford and Perfect Fit performed their stated function very well and rate a 5. Hence the choice comes down to choosing between the lower cost of the Biddeford or the aesthetics of the higher cost Perfect Fit. I am not rating the Sunbeam electric blanket as I have had to many bad experiences with Sunbeam electric blankets failing.

For the record current measurements were made with a Kill A Watt a very handy gadget for measuring the current and power used by an appliance.

I love this blanket5
This electric blanket is fantastic. I had it all set up and working with in minutes keeping me warm at night. I love the lighted easy to use dial and the light weight feeling of this warm blanket. You will be very happy with this electric blanket. Enjoy!

Never buy Sunbeam again!5
I have never been so pleased with an electric blanket. Year after year I had to rebuy a Sunbeam blanket because it no longer got warm. Then came the stupidest, "Smart Blanket" I have ever seen, by Sunbeam. I figured the day of staying warm in winter was over. Then I found this blanket. It's wonderful. Thick, the wires are smaller and instead of it trying to use an imaginary brain of it's own it lets you decide how warm you want it. You cant go wrong. I have even bought my elderly Mother one which she is already using and brags everyday about it. She says it's the best gift she has ever gotten. You cant go wrong and the price is great!!
