Customer Reviews

Not what I expected1
This arrived today and although I haven't even plugged it in, I am already disappointed. The main problem is that the boiling water obviously will come in contact with a plastic component. I chose this kettle to avoid boiling water in plastic! The other thing that bothers me is that the product description makes it seem like it was made in Switzerland, but it was actually made in China. I am returning this. I regret spending so much money on it.

Nothing healthy about it.1
"The Healthy Kitchen brand of high performance kitchen appliances is an authentic cooking brand conducive to healthy living. Manufactured by Spring Switzerland."
Yeah, right!

First of all, I was buying this kettle for its steel and glass body, no plastic. This is supposed to be healthy combination.
I was wrong. The water from the kettle smelled plastic even after more then 10 times of boiling fresh water in it. Plastic lid and black plastic thing inside the kettle was causing it.

Now, read description of the kettle and not just look at the picture and assume it's glass. No it's not. It's clear PLASTIC, not glass. Surprise!
How do I know? Try to knock on "glass" body and compare sound to how real glass sound like. But even this test was not good enough for me. After looking closely, I found that handle is attached to "glass" body with screws. How you ask? Because it's just a plastic!

Don't buy it if you are expecting healthy water out of this kettle.

Did I mention that it is "Manufactured by Spring Switzerland"? On the box from my kettle it has print "Manufactured in PRC". Cool, at least no in China. Oops! PRC is a fancy acronym for "People's Republic of China".
It is made in China! What's wrong with it? Well, I don't think Chine has same standards and requirements and US does. This means, that the plastic smell of water could be because they use wrong type of plastic.

Beware of this misleading product!1
What a disappointment to see Dr Weil - who I have always respected as a health authority - put his name on such an inferior and misleading product as this. First of all, as another reviewer mentioned already, this product IS made in China, NOT Switzerland, as the name "Spring Switzerland" clearly was meant to imply! Secondly, the "transparent body" of this kettle is made out of Lexan - a plastic - and not glass. It is NOT healthy for boiling water to be in contact with any kind of plastic, especially a plastic made in China that could have all sorts of impurities in it! China is notorious for a lack of quality control and oversight of the manufacturers throughout its country. The fact that Dr Weil saw fit to put his name on a product that opted for using such inferior material and using the misleading manufacturer name of Spring Switzerland is very disheartening. If he is capable of doing this, what other corners has he cut on all his other products - especially his supplements? Are these made in China? Do they really have the amount of nutrients in them that are claimed? Do they have impurities in them? I am really disappointed to see that Dr Weil is willing to engage in such misleading advertising in order to make a buck.
