Wow!5
So, I've been a huge Tara MacLean fan forever, and when I heard about her teaming up with two others to form Shaye, I was excited. I loved the first album "The Bridge", but there was just a little something missing. It just seemed like they were trying to find a foothold as they were learning how to work together.

With "Lake Of Fire" you can hear how much they have grown. This cd is so mesmerizing and I think it's because they've figured out how to utilize the different qualities that all 3 women bring to the group. There isn't a single song I don't like. And there are a few outstanding tracks, one being "We Are Water".

I highly recommend this CD to everyone.

Tara's better on her own3
I am a huge fan of Tara MacLean, loved "Silence" and "Passenger," and wanted to give Shaye a try. I was pretty disappointed in this album, maybe just because it didn't feel like enough Tara. It sounded very mainstream pop-rockish, and the lyrics just didn't have the poetry of the aforementioned albums. I loved the haunting sounds of Tara's solo albums, and this one just didn't grab me. Seemed a little too bland.

Let's go swimming in a "Lake of Fire."

That said, this album alone dispels any myth of the sophomore jinx. Granted, Tara leaving after this album isn't quite a blessing to the band, but the music and the moment are captured already. I'll try to think if there's any band's better second album (out there somewhere) as soon as I listen to this one more time.
