Amazon.com Product Description
Light up your entertainment by converting your cigarette lighter into an outlet for your Walkman. Use the car connecting cable to play music from or charge the batteries of your NWZ-A800 and NWZ-S600 series Sony Walkman video MP3 player.
Compact and portable in design, the cable plays through the car's audio devices, such as car FM transmitter, cassette audio adapter, or an audio unit's AUX IN.
Customer Reviews
Works as advertised but could be much better
Pros -
This cable works as advertised. You can plug your Sony Walkman devices with a WM-PORT into it and have it charge the device while playing back audio through the "line out" jack. Sound quality is decent.
It works with my older NW-S705F as well as my newer NWZ-A816 players.
Cons -
At this price, it should really include a short cable for the Aux-in port but it doesn't.
Also, the Walkman player will not stop when the car is powered off. This is annoying. My wife has a similar setup for her iPod and when the car is switched off, the iPod goes to standby. I wish Sony would think of the user experience a bit more when designing their players and accessories.
Such a hassle!
I was disappointed when I went to use this product because one crucial piece was missing-the audio cable. I was on my way on an eight hour road trip and was not able to listen to my Sony MP3 player because the audio cable does not come with this product. I spent almost $40 and had to spend another $12,to buy the auxiliary audio cable, in order to listen to music! What a rip off!! Oh sure, this connecting cable charges my MP3 player just fine, no problems there. That's why I gave this product two stars.
If you have a car that has the auxiliary connection, (it's the opening under the cigarette lighter), the auxiliary audio cable will play your MP3 for you,(it will not charge it, though). If you don't, then you have to hook up the auxiliary cable to the connecting cable. Oh, you can't listen to music while the device is charging. If you don't have any of those items, this connecting cable will at least charge your MP3 player.
The moral of my story is that I should have bought this product in person, so that I could have seen what I was buying before spending extra money. Also, Sony could at least have the audio cable included in the package so that I wouldn't have to share my tale of frustration online.
Works well but.
The transmitter works well but picks on the alternator and wines through the speakers. If you have lots of radio station like I do ,the transmitter does not have enough selections for my area.
