Works pretty well
I live in an old apartment by the college that use to always be musty and mildewy all year. There is moisture no matter what and even lysol wouldn't take the mildew smell out. Then I bought 4 buckets of damp rid and a refill box. It works like magic! The moisture is absorbed by the damp rid "chalk chips" and then the sludge falls into the bucket, fused into a gel that won't evaporate the captured water. After a while I saw just how much moisture my apartment carried that was now stuck in the damp rid bucket! No more bad smell, no more mildew and mold. Worst place for moisture happened to be in the cabinet under the kitchen sink.....collected about a cup or so of moisture a week. Unfortunately, if you have a lot of moisture you might have to refill the buckets with fresh damprid chips often. I went through a whole refill box in about a month. luckily it's cheap.

Works wonderfully.
I had a lot of trouble with bad smells in the laundry room that got worse when it rained. I tried air fresheners, but they just mixed with the smell and made it worse. I found Damp Rid at Wal-Mart and thought it would be worth a try. Only $3-$4. I was amazed how fast it worked. The smell was gone and I couldn't believe what my family had been breathing. It even helped my husband's allergies. I have not been able to find this product in Wal-Mart since. I finally got tired of the smell, which came back when the crystals were gone, so I ordered a refill online. My only complaint is that I cannot find it in retail stores. I would love to be able to drive to Wal-Mart and pick up a refill any time.

Fantastic product for damp smelly closets.
I can't live without this in the damp No Cal winters. Can't tell you how much time I spent looking for the source of the bad odor before I found out by using this that it was mold encouraged by dampness. This took care of it. I now buy in bulk.
