Can It Get Any Better?
I've always found Rob Thomas to be a talented crafter of hook-laden songs. His distinctive voice lends itself well to his writings, and the results are songs that are instantly likeable and memorable.
"Little Wonders" continues that streak and then some. There's a haunting, almost sentimental, feel to this song that is unshakeable. The gorgeous, U2-like opening imposes a sense of sadness to the song, but the lyrics lift the song to another place. They say that, in the end, the best parts of life are found in the little things that mean the most.
My only recommendation is to spend a few extra dollars and pick up the soundtrack to "Meet the Robinsons"... I haven't seen the movie, but the other singles on the CD are great, and Dany Elfman's scoring is always entertaining.
Who is Rob Thomas?
I used to like Matchbox 20 but was never a fan. "Back to good" is my favourite MB20 song.
Little Wonders is an enlightening charmer of a track. It has a beautiful and luscious city sound and has all the makings of an excellent tune to live the rest of the year by. I will now go and check out more stuff by Thomas but I doubt I'll find something as easy to love and straightforward as Little Wonders.
Thank you.
I just wasn't ready
Very few things can inspire me to sit in a theater after a movie ends, but Rob Thomas' "These Little Wonders" not only kept me in my seat, it inspired me to tell everyone I know about the song.
