Independent Angler
Case was better than I expected. It is the right size for the Voyager 510 Blue Tooth Headset. It provides some protection for the headset, unless you sit on the case. It is not a hard shell carying case. It is a rigid soft shell carrying case.
It's a Camera case!
It is a camera case that the Plantronics 510 headset happens to fit in. It desperately needs some soft foam installed to secure and protect your headset investment. As it is, the headset is free to move around and risk damage. The headset is not secured in the case other than a strap that does not hold it in one position. A good idea - and with adaptations - could be a great case!
Keyword: Storage! Official carrying case is now available!
Q. Will it fit? Are there any other options out there?
I would say that this is an OK case for "storing" the Plantronics Voyager Pro. When I purchased my headset back in July, this case along with the Plantronics Voyager 510 Bluetooth Headset Carrying Case were the only ones available. I mainly use my headset in my car. I rarely take it with me and that would be either to charge it overnight or to use it on days I know I will be making many phone calls while needing my hands to work on my documents or my computer. Therefore, I think this case is a good option if you just want something to store the headset in while it is not being used and keep it in your car, your office drawer or your luggage while travelling. If you need something to wear on you all the time, then definitely the Plantronics Voyager Pro Carry Case 81293-01 is a better option. The latter is an official Plantronics accessory that provides a much faster access to the headset; hence, it makes more sense to purchase it if you want to carry the headset around turned on and connected to your phone. It is certainly more discrete, functional, looks better and won't be dangling off your belt!
Q. Will it hold my headset securely? How about its build quality?
As another reviewer pointed out earlier, this is a camera case that happens to fit both the Plantronics Voyager 510 Bluetooth Headset [Retail Packaging] & the Plantronics Voyager PRO Bluetooth Headset. There is only a Velcro strap inside to secure the headset and that won't prevent it from moving around. Fortunately, I came up with a way to keep it to a minimum. Basically you raise the boom of the headset up, attach the Velcro strap over the ear loop section tightly, and then lower the boom, which will then be over the strap and not below it. This way the headset won't move inside the case that much, but that comes with the expense of spending more time taking it out and obviously putting it in. Nevertheless, even if the headset plays inside, it won't break, scratch or suffer any damage unless the case is placed under a heavy load. It is not a hard shell though; it is a soft one that has a rigid form, i.e. it can be squeezed. I haven't tested it myself but I guess this case will provide reasonable protection against falls and other small to medium impact events. All in all, the case looks nice and has an excellent build quality. The materials used are not cheap. The interior is nicely lined and the zippers as well as the included carbineer are strong and sturdy.
Q. Anything else you would like to add?
Yes, one more thing: when I purchased the Voyager Pro, I registered with Plantronics website and received a free USB car charger with a Micro-USB cable. The case is too small to fit all three together; the charger will rub against the headset and either break it or scratch the finish. However, the case has a mesh pocket that I use to keep the Micro-USB cable, which is rather short and compact thanks to the included Velcro cable tie. I use Case Logic's "Neoprene Portable Hard Disk Drive Case (HDC-10)" to store the Plantronics USB car charger, Kensington 33368 4-in-1 Auto Charger for iPods, the 30-pin Dock Connector to USB cable that came with it, and a retractable Mini-USB cable to charge my iPod Classic and my Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1i cell phone.
Q. What about the seller? Would you recommend this to others?
The seller is offering a good price and a good service. The transaction went smoothly and the case arrived on time. The shipping is rather expensive though. In my opinion, this case offers a very good value for money. I would highly recommend this for storage purposes only. For carrying the headset on you all the time, go for the official Plantronics Voyager Pro carrying case, which again fits both the Voyager Pro and the Voyager 510.
Summary:
1. It fits both Plantronics Voyager Pro, Voyager 510 Bluetooth headsets.
2. It is good for storage not for carrying the headset around.
3. It is NOT a hard shell carryong case; it is a soft shell one with a rigid form.
4. Excellent build quality, excellent materials, sturdy zippers and carbineer.
5. You can store a cable in the mesh pocket.
6. Reliable seller, but the shipping is rather expensive.
7. Good value for money, recommended only for storage purposes.
