Amazon.com Product Description
The only collapsible water barrel on the market, Heaven and Earth’s knockdown barrel catches roof water runoff for watering lawns, irrigating gardens and topping off birdbaths and swimming pools while cutting back on that summer water bill. Great for areas experiencing water shortages or water restrictions, the rain barrel comes with a filter, tap and overflow valve. Best of all, the barrel drains and collapses quickly for easy, compact storage at the end of the season.

The barrel is made of heavy-duty, puncture-resistant laminated 3-ply UV-resistant polyester for strength, durability and weather-resistance. An easy-access zipper hides filter to keep leaves and debris from rain barrel. Supported by heavy-duty resin legs, the barrel's overflow valve at the top keeps water from pooling up and attracting mosquitoes. Perfect for gardens and patios with limited space, a threaded release valve at the bottom lets you attach a hose to run rainwater to thirsty plants. Five heavy-duty resin legs offer plenty of support. Legs slide into the material for easy assembly.

HUGE & useful rain barrel4
This rain barrel is truly awesome! I live in the southwestern desert and, of course, there is little rain. Since I've done lots of planting (trees, bushes, etc), I needed something to catch the excess water that always flows off my roof when it DOES rain. (Most of my plants are drought resistant, but they're just starting out and needed more water than usual.)

This rain barrel has a hole at the top which you're supposed to connect to your drain spout, but my house didn't come with any drain spouts so I decided to simply leave the top mostly unzipped to catch the rain. I positioned the barrel right under one of my roof run-offs (my house has 4 points where water runs off of it). Well, when I finally got rain, the barrel ended up being slightly more than half full from that one rain!

One of the tiny issues I have with this barrel is that it doesn't stand up on its own very well before it has water in it. The instructions say to add some water at first, but I left mine empty. A strong wind did blow it over once while it was empty, but on the whole it did better than I expected. The barrel comes with 5 poles which you push into holes around the barrel and they give the barrel that upright stance. There's a drain spout you install near the bottom to allow excess water to run off.

Since there is no stiff bottom support, you can just roll this thing up when it's empty and put it in a trunk. It's not that tall or bulky. It took me about 20 minutes to assemble altogether. The instructions were fine. And I did see this same rain barrel (52gal) at HD, but it was $20 more, only available on-line (only ships for free with a $149 total order), and currently out of stock; not to mention that was the cheapest rain barrel they had. This makes this rain barrel a true bargain!
