A Solid Remix Collection4
Boombox does exactly what it sets out to do: It gathers together the best remixes of Kylie's classics between 2000 and 2008. There's certainly no shortage of Kylie remixes, with one or more on her various cd singles, which can vary in European, Japanese, and Australian incarnations. 2000-2008 has been Kylie's best period, with the landmark albums Light Years, Fever, Body Language, and X, as well as the Ultimate Kylie greatest hits collection that introduced two more of her best originals (I Believe in You and Giving You Up). The remixes selected for this set were the right choices, as these are indeed the most worthy of their own featured release. It doesn't make for a classic cd on the level of those mentioned above, but it makes for an enjoyable listen.

If there's any disappointment, it's only this: What we really need is a complete B-Sides collection, featuring original song B-sides. Kylie could easily fill a double-disc collection of those songs, which are often as good as the songs on her official albums. As good as these remixes are here, none of them surpass the originals. So it's a welcome addition to Kylie's catalog, but ultimately a place-holder between studio releases.

Interesting, but not a must-have3
I have been a Kylie fan since the Fever album came out, and have collected all of her albums and singles since then, mostly imports. So while about half these mixes are available on commercial CD singles already, a lot of them were brand new to me. But even so, the ones I already did have are here in edited form, which is cool, so you're not getting complete duplicates. (No track breaks 5 minutes.)

I was just surprised at how many dubs were included on this collection! Some are listed straight up as such, and others are not. Love at First Sight, Wow, Red Blooded Woman, and Giving You Up are the worst offenders, utilizing just one or two lines (if not words) repeatedly, and even 2 Hearts and I Believe in You cut out the choruses. Don't get me wrong, this is a great CD to get down and boogie to and it's always fun to hear something in a different way, but I also feel like you have to be somewhat familiar with the original versions of these songs to appreciate the remixes. Hence I might not recommend this to only a casual fan.

For there being certainly no lack of Kylie mixes to choose from, it would have been nice if the producers or whoever had chosen ones with wider appeal. The One and In My Arms are personal highlights, but notably missing is any version of Chocolate. So it is admittedly kind of a lazy effort, but not a complete disaster. Three stars.

"...are you're speakers loud enough to handle it?..."
The title track "Boombox" is enough to make you want to own the album. As "dated" as some critics call this album. I for one find it amazing for an artist to actually put together a collection of her Dance Remixs in a greatest hit compilation.
Boombox contains some of the biggest dance hits of the past 8 years. Kylie, being the proclaimed "Princess of Pop" in the UK, Australia and throughout Europe, it would only be approprite to pay hommage to the dance music scene that has kept her career going for over three decades. Kylie is a class act so only the creme de la creme of European DJs were chosen to work with her through the years. Resulting in a feverish wave of Global Dance/Electronia number ones. The DJs associated with the collection include Scotish Spinning Genius Mylo who has collaberated with every musical success in Europe and Asia. the LA Riots, The Chemical Brothers and many other Dance Music giants such as the electro-clash masters Fisherspooner.
Although the dance music scene changes its sounds on an almost year by year basis, these remixes, even the tracks from the earlier part of the decade are pure dance classics.
This is a European Music Collectors dream and is a must buy for any Kylie fan. If you would like to test drive any specific tracks before buying you must listen to:
Can't Get Blue Monday Out of My Head (mash up new order vs Kylie)
Slow - Chemical Brothers
I Believe in You - Mylo
Come Into my world - Fischerspooner
Boombox - LA Riots
The One - Bitroka Mix
In Your Eyes - Knuckleheadz Mx.
