Product Description

Many people do crazy things in the name of love, but some people take things way too far. From failed seductions to botched proposals, from disturbing displays of affection to misguided marriages, Idiots in Love chronicles the stupid things falling in love (or falling out of it) can drive people to do:

" A female Coca-Cola employee became engaged to a Pepsi employee, and Coke demanded that she break it off, persuade her fiancé to leave Pepsi, or resign from Coca-Cola. She refused and was terminated, but she later won a $600,000 settlement from the company.

" A woman in Hardwick, Georgia, divorced her husband on the grounds that he "stayed home too much and was too affectionate."

" A couple started divorce proceedings after 90 minutes of marriage.

" A Norwegian woman hid a ring in her boyfriend's porridge to propose marriage to him, but he accidentally ate the ring. Fortunately, he accepted the proposal anyway.

" In Whitesville, Delaware, it is illegal for a woman to propose to a man.

" A European survey revealed that one in nine people admit to sending themselves Valentine's Day cards.

Once again, Leland Gregory finds the absolute best and funniest anecdotes and one-liners that will have readers rolling with laughter at the amorous antics of idiots in love.

Interesting Bedtime Reading3
Do you get those emails about the silly things that people do? Basically this is a book that collects those silly stories that revolve around love.

The book is set up with one page anecdotes. I found a few of the entries funny, some left me rolling my eyes, but most did not effect me. Too many of the entries reminded me of the urban legends we have all heard so many times. Maybe this proves their truth, but it wasn't enough. A bride getting rice lodged in her ear, a groom falling off the bed (while jumping) on his honeymoon and breaking his wrist, a groom showing up at his wedding to find two brides (his fiance and his ex-girlfriend). There wasn't enough to make me care about most of the entries.

On the plus side the book is an easy read and did provide me with some smiles and a few laughs.

If You Relish the Stupidity of Others, You'll Love This Book5
These aren't traditional "short stories," they're dozens of laugh outloud funny, one paragraph anecdotes that will also make you wonder about how the human race has survived its own dopiness. Like the groom who divorced his wife shortly after their wedding reception because she made fun of her new mother-in-law's dancing. Or the guy who pretended FOR SEVERAL YEARS to be deaf just so his wife would stop nagging him.

First, I suggest you go back to the top of this page and click on the photo of the book, where it says Search Inside. That will let you read a few of the pages and see how funny the stories are. Of course, that will also tell you whether or not it's your kind of humor.

Besides being funny, I also like the book because the shortness of each story makes for easy "start and stop" reading -- all without having to stop laughing. It was perfect for my subway rides around the city, for grabbing a few quick laughs with lunch, and now it sits in my lobby for visitors who will (hopefully) only need a few minutes' distraction.

Whether you just want some laughs in your life, desperately need to feel superior to someone, or would like customers who have to wait for you to be smiling when you finally get to them, I highly recommend this book.
