Another on the Must Haves List. I found this one on the cheap at a used bookstore. It was a chance encounter, books like these don't often turn up in those stores...people usually keep them forever.

Treasure trove, symptoms, ailments, contraindications, recipes and dosages from several disciplines. Gives the names of common drugs for common ailments and the herbs that will give similar results. I like the format of this book more than any other.

I can think of 10 reasons off the top of my head that EVERY woman should read this in preparation for menopause. Menopause is the beginning of a wonderful new adventure, and getting to know your body and loving it with herbs is the first, most important step to embracing the rest of your life.

Woman MD, book about women's health. Sage advice and tips, not always what you'd think of coming from an MD! That's what makes it wonderful.

This is new on the market and it's about time. Useful information from a perspective that is 'pooh poohed' by the medical establishment. Never close your mind to possibilities.

another classic from Michael Tierra. I personally buy his company's herbal formulations and have never been dissatisfied. This book explains the discipline he follows in creating those formulas.

The companion to The Way of Herbs, this version illustrates the use of herbs in the Traditional Chinese Medicine discipline.

Out of Print most likely the reason for the high prices. Excellent resource for specifically North American uses of the herbs of this continent.

The ONLY thing I would change about this book is to include more pictures, but I guess that would make the volume too big and heavy to lug about on hikes when you're looking for the things described in it.
