I really loved this historical fiction about a Moorish Muslim family during the Spanish Inquisition. Perhaps it has some anachronisms, but past those, it's a fabulous and moving read.

One of the best books I've ever read. A young Hawaiian girl contracts leprosy and is exiled to a leper colony on Moloka'i. An amazing story and one I will never forget.

A wonderful read! A young girl down south in the 60s finds refuge from her abusive father at the home of three African American beekeepers.

A family of six moves to Africa as Southern Baptist missionaries. Set in the 1950s-60s, and told in turn from the points of view of the four daughters (one religious, one disabled, one trendy/superficial, and one 5 years old) and their mother. An absolutely riveting and incredible story that I strongly recommend to all female readers!

Perhaps one of the most disturbing autobiographies you'll ever read. An Irish family in the 1930s lives in extreme illness and poverty. An unbelievable work of nonfiction.

For entertainment only. Perhaps not the best historical fiction due to many anachronisms and a too-modern leading female heroine, but still a page-turner nonetheless. This takes place during the end of the Florentine Renaissance as Savonarola begins his pious regime of the censorship and destruction of all Renaissance art and luxuries.

Eragon & Eldest: Two great books. (Brisngr? Not so much.)

One of the best YA novels out there. A story about a young gang of greaser boys back in the 50s or 60s.

My favorite books in the universe!

Spectacular graphic novel memoirs by an Iranian woman growing up in Iran in the 1970s, during the Revolution. Gripping, hilarious, sad, disturbing, thrilling, moving, and education. Reading these memoirs was a great experience.

A very sad tale about a Chinese hungry ghost in the afterlife, pining for her living husband and suffering through watching him take new wives. Very hard to read, as this plot was quite upsetting, but worth reading all the same.

A highly wonderful modern gothic mystery novel. One of my favorite books!

I read this book long before vampires were "in style", and I will always adore this book. One of the best adventure/gothic/classic novels out there.

A very wonderful YA fiction about a boy who has gone blind and a ship steward stranded on an unchartered island together. A great read for young adults and adults alike.

A highly shocking memoir

A fabulous and thrilling gothic mystery tale. I was a little disappointed with some aspects of it, but it was one of the best-written books I've ever read, and it was absolutely impossible to put down.
