First Art : Art Experiences for Toddlers and TwosFirst Art : Art Experiences for Toddlers and Twos by MaryAnn F. Kohl
Buy new: $10.76 / Used from: $6.87
I have half a dozen arts and crafts books and this is my favorite. It is the most age appropriate for a two-year-old boy, unlike many similar books which seem to be geared toward the three year old set. And the goal of every activity is the experience of creating art, not the finished product. Good clean messy fun.
Math Play! (Williamson Little Hands Series)Math Play! (Williamson Little Hands Series) by Diane McGowan
Buy new: $10.36 / Used from: $0.71
This book has a lot of great ideas to practice and reinforce counting and number recognition skills. I would say about half are appropriate for a two and a half year old. The other half are a little more complicated and will be good for next year.
The Toddlers Busy Book: 365 Creative Games and Activities to Keep Your 1 1/2- to 3-Year-Old BusyThe Toddlers Busy Book: 365 Creative Games and Activities to Keep Your 1 1/2- to 3-Year-Old Busy by Trish Kuffner
Buy new: $9.95 / Used from: $2.93
This is full of fun ideas. What I like best is the variety. And it is well organized. If the weather is nice, you can flip through that section and look for outdoor ideas or something involving water play. If you're looking for a quiet or non-messy idea there are sections with those activities as well. If you only purchase one activity book, I would choose this one.
Peak with Books: An Early Childhood Resource for Balanced LiteracyPeak with Books: An Early Childhood Resource for Balanced Literacy by Marjorie R. Nelsen
Buy new: $37.40 / Used from: $17.71
This is the "curriculum" we are using this year. I've collected almost all of the recommended books (except for Bedtime for Frances, which I don't like) from Amazon and Ebay. The book offers activities and suggestions to reinforce the concepts of each book.
Sesame Street - Learning About NumbersSesame Street - Learning About Numbers
Buy new: $9.93 / Used from: $2.23
When we need a little downtime we rely on Sesame Street. Learning About Numbers is one of our favorites. The format is theme-oriented, and my husband and I love seeing many of the songs that we grew up watching!

We also love Learning About Letters!
Let's Sticker & Paste! (Kumon First Steps Workbooks)Let's Sticker & Paste! (Kumon First Steps Workbooks)

These Kumon First Step Workbooks are very, very simple. We do a couple of pages here and there, from this book and the "Let's Color" book. After we complete these two, we'll move on to "Let's Fold" and "Let's Cut Paper." There are also follow-up books: "More Let's Sticker & Paste," etc.
Making Letters: A very first writing book (Making...)Making Letters: A very first writing book (Making...) by Jo Moon

When we're ready to start tracing and writing letters, this book (and it's companions, "Making Numbers" and "Making Shapes") will be where we start.

Garden Fresh Fruits & Veggies, Soft "peel-able" fruits and veggiesGarden Fresh Fruits & Veggies, Soft "peel-able" fruits and veggies
Buy new: $14.95
We are just starting to collect play food like these fruits and veggies. Our son has enjoyed his grocery cart since his first birthday. He's just beginning to engage in pretend play, so we're going to create activity boxes and the first one we're working on is "store." We'll add a cash register, play money, grocery bags, etc.

Lauri Toys Primer PackLauri Toys Primer Pack
Buy new: $14.99
Although I would prefer wooden manipulatives and pegboards, the cost is prohibitive. Lauri's foam products are a more cost-effective alternative.
Melissa & Doug Deluxe Mix 'n Match Peg Puzzle Bundle, Pack of ThreeMelissa & Doug Deluxe Mix 'n Match Peg Puzzle Bundle, Pack of Three
Buy new: $14.51
We've picked up a dozen wood puzzles from consignment boutiques in our area. I try to put out a new puzzle every day, on my son's play table. I make a point to "mess it up" a few times a day, so he can put it back together when he feels like it.

My son tends to make musical instruments out of ordinary household objects, but he also has a little set of instruments, which he enjoys.
LifeStyle Folding Table & Chairs Set 1LifeStyle Folding Table & Chairs Set 1
This is our son's play/work table. It's large enough for arts and craft projects and big enough for two children to share work space. We also use it for snack time. It folds out of the way, which is a nice feature. And it's made in the USA, which is a big plus for us.
Little Tikes Mission Design Storage CenterLittle Tikes Mission Design Storage Center
This is my favorite piece of organizational furniture. It comes with slide out plastic tubs that can be removed for more shelf space, if desired. We have my son's small toys (vehicles, blocks, etc.) in separate labeled bins, which helps with keeping things tidy. The rest of his toys are in a closet in plastic boxes with lids so that I can control how many toys/activities come out at once!
The Plastic Mailbox (White)The Plastic Mailbox (White)
Buy new: $20.00
After reading reviews of toy mailboxes, we plan to just get a sturdy plastic mailbox, with an easy-to-open door and flag from our local hardware store. It will be good for pretend play and also for our son to send and receive "mail."
Radio Flyer Pathfinder Wagon®, RedRadio Flyer Pathfinder Wagon®, Red
Buy new: $86.04
A big part of our day is time spent outside. My son loves to take walks (actually, he jogs) and when he gets tired he likes to be pulled in his wagon. I used to carry him halfway home and now that I'm pregnant and he's getting so big, that isn't an option. Next summer we'll add the sun tent.
Fisher-Price Little People Animal Sounds FarmFisher-Price Little People Animal Sounds Farm
Buy new: $44.99
I love these Fisher-Price Little People sets. This is the first one we have. My son uses it as a garage/tunnel for his vehicles. If and when he shows more interest in pretend play with the animal/people figurines there are so many cute sets.
