Cant Beat The Value!
With all the recent disasters and terror threats etc, its good to be ready when needed. This is a great rechargeable flashlight for the money. The flashlight seems to be sturdy and the light is bright and focused. Since it is a full sized flashlight make sure you stick this on a unused outlet somewhere tucked away. A plus of course is the night light thats built in. Need to get another for the basement!
Really Good Rechargable Flashlight
We've had the smaller version for years and consider it to be the best kind/brand we've encountered of the several we've tried: holds up for years if left plugged in, withstands routine dropping, does need an occasional bulb replacment. This bigger version seems to be just that much better: very bright, charge last longer. The only down side is that it's almost cheaper to replace the whole flashlight than try to re-battery it.
Good but not perfect
We purchased two of these to complement a number of the 2 hour versions we already had in the guest rooms of our Bed and Breakfast. The flashlights work well with a good light and appears to have excellent battery life. There are however a few quirks that you need to be aware of.
First of all it is not obvious from the photos that the 4 hour version is quite a bit fatter than the 2 hour version. This is not a problem but it was a surprise as they both look the same in the online catalog.
The flashlight also shares two rather annoying quirks of the 2 hour version. For reasons that seem unnecessary the 110V plug is polarized. When you plug the flashlight in it really needs to hang down from the socket to be stable, so if you have your outlet mounted with the ground pin at the top (as opposed to the more conventional arrangement with it at the bottom) you can have a problem as the flashlight will then plug in only in the upward direction. The flashlight will stay in place but it tends to lean out from the wall and get in the way. The second quirk is presumably intended to be a feature, but it is an awkward one. The 110V plug pivots through 90 degrees which is generally good (although it is the reason the unit leans out from the wall if your sockets are the wrong way up) but the pins MUST be pivoted flat back into the flashlight before it will turn on. This is NOT intuitive and it not ideal for an emergency flashlight which you just want to pull out from the wall and start to use. We ended up appropriately labeling each flashlight in large letters with a red indelible pen and making sure all our guests are advised of this quirk when they check in.
So overall a solid unit that does its job at a good price, but some design aspects could have been better.
