Product Description

A man who once thrived on wickedness and counted on forgiveness, Curtis Black has changed his ways. Back in the heart of his congregation and his family, he will no longer stray from the beaten path. Or so he's promised his long-suffering wife, Charlotte.

But the sins of the past have strange ways of coming to light. First, Curtis's former mistress shows up with their newborn baby daughter—named Curtina—and insists that Curtis be a part of their lives. Charlotte has forbidden her husband to have anything to do with them, but the trouble is, Curtis's newfound conscience is leading him to have uncomfortable thoughts of responsibility.

Also, the interim pastor who took over while Curtis was on a book tour is threatening blackmail. He's gotten too used to life at the pulpit and will do everything in his power to stay there.

Meanwhile, Charlotte has her own previous transgressions to deal with. The man who claims to be her son's biological father has turned up and wants to make amends for the past thirteen years. If Charlotte gives in to his increasing requests, she may lose the only child she has left.

However, Curtis and Charlotte have been through too much together to give up now. They must work harder than ever—as a mother and a father, as husband and wife—to save their family, their marriage, and their souls.

Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly
Flawed Rev. Curtis Black returns in Roby's latest melodrama (following Love and Lies). The repentant, 46-year-old Curtis has finally made amends with his 31-year-old wife, Charlotte: she's forgiven him for his five-year affair with Tabitha, but forbids him from seeing Tabitha or the infant daughter he fathered with her. An enraged Tabitha harasses Curtis, stalks Charlotte around their hometown of Mitchell, Ill., and threatens to go public. Haunted by her own daughter's death and determined to keep her husband's secrets, Charlotte decides to take matters into her own hands. Meanwhile, interim pastor Rev. Tolson, who knows a thing or two about Curtis's business, is smarting from his loss of power now that Curtis has returned to the pulpit from a book tour and speaking engagements. And Curtis and Charlotte risk losing their 13-year-old son, Matthew, after David, the man they believe is Matthew's biological dad, decides to seek full custody. Roby has got smalltown church politics down, but spends more time on stiffly repeated backstory and hollow finger-wagging than on plot, leading to a hurried, undermotivated denouement.

"Bravo for narrator Tracey Leigh, whose strong performance hooks the listener on this soap opera-like novel. ... Okay I guess......3
Sin No More was just okay. I gave it 3 stars but it really deserves 2.5. I've read all of KLR's books regarding the infamous Curtis Black and this was my least favorite. This book dragged on and on and it seemed like forever to get slightly interesting(Chapter 29 to be exact). I think it is because KLR has run out of material to write about regarding the characters. I hope this is the last Curtis Black book. I wouldn't advise purchasing this book. Check it out from your local library and you'll be happy that you did.

What's Done in the Dark.............5
Pastor Curtis Black was back and ready for a new beginning in Sin No More by Kimberla Lawson Roby. He had been ousted from two previous churches because of his philandering ways. Pastor Black brought shame to the body of Christ, his family and himself. No more lies, no more cheating, he was a new man and he was determined to get it right.

He started a new church with, his wife, Charlotte, and she and his son, Matthew, were still standing by his side. Curtis was a new man, redeemed from his past, but the consequences of his sins have come back to haunt him. Tabitha, Curtis' former lover and their baby girl, Curtina, who was conceived in sin were back. If that was not enough, there was an enemy in the camp who was trying to put him out of his own church.

Tabitha was coming to get what she thought belonged to her, and married or not Curtis Black was going to be hers. Tabitha still loved Curtis and was ready to use baby Curtina as her weapon of power in order to have her man. Tabitha was ready for the battle, but she was not at all prepared for the war and bit off more than she could chew by provoking Charlotte and trying to destroy the man of God.

Charlotte was a woman scorned more than once, and this was the last straw. She was determined to keep Curtis away from Tabitha and Curtina if she had to die in the process. At times, she wished she would have divorced Curtis when she found out about Curtina. She could not allow that child into her house or family and it was up to her to find a way to keep her out. Charlotte had a few secrets and misdeeds of her own, and as she tried to keep them covered and placed blame on Curtis, the love and trust that God was in the process of resurrecting in their marriage was on the verge of being put asunder by man and dirty deeds.

It was a great book; I could barely put it down and I was done with it too quickly. I could relate to the storyline and it was too real for me. It is an excellent read! It is heartbreaking and inspiring at the same time, but truly is exemplary of our God and how he cannot be mocked. I highly recommend this book to all who would like to see how all things work together for the good of those who love the Lord and are called according to His purpose.

What A Strange Twist!4
This author definately knows how to create shock value with her latest title. I have never read anything by her but I will credit her for creating an almost unimaginable scenario and an even more twisted ending. What is not at all strange is sex and infidelity in the church which has gotten it's share of press even more so in the last decade and a half. It is funny how being unfaithful is so easy to accomplish among people who have pledged their undying faith to God. It is a true testiment that many do not know what faith really is all about. And I wonder if God will forgive us after breaking the vow of faith when we continue to break it over and over again. This novel is thoughtprovoking especislly when you examine faith and what it truly represents.
