From Publishers Weekly
Twenty-five-year fitness industry veteran Sansone, whose videos have been megahits for the shopping network QVC, shares a nonintimidating, friendly workbook that promises to help overweight adults (she targets women, though men could certainly benefit from her advice, too) drop pounds and pick up energy. "Walking just thirty minutes a day, three times a week," she says, "reduces the risk of death from natural causes by 55%." That being fit will help you live longer isn't news, but Sansone's simple approach is refreshing. She details a six-week program that combines walking and basic strength training, promising readers they'll burn calories, lose fat, firm muscle, boost energy and reduce stress. With its daily log and continual encouragement, the book will best suit those new to exercise who aren't sure how or where to begin and need constant assurance (though Sansone does include a power walk program for readers who are already walking regularly or have completed the basic program). She interweaves her program notes with personal stories from women who've successfully "walked away the pounds" (20, 60 and even 100 pounds). This nonthreatening, accessible exercise plan should be a boon for those who are reluctant or unable to practice more intense exercise.

Here is a total plan for getting yourself physically and personally in shape--without equipment, club memberships, or diets,. The author uses walking as a hook to connect her listeners with a range of habits that can make life more integrated, healthy, and enjoyable. The structure of this smoothly rendered audio and the program itself are easy to follow--six weeks of gradual increases in the time and attention we pay to not just walking but to managing our stress, time, diet, relationships, and life goals. Though the author's enthusiasm will sound over the top to some ears, her plan offers a realistic structure for the whole of one's life that anyone can follow. GREAT book!
Leslie Sansone has created a great book! I follow her videos at home and reading this book has really helped me understand a few more things about her goals and what we need to do to achieve them. I read this book yesterday and I could not set it down! I finished it with tons of new information that I will be able to use!
She is an amazing person and she expalins her theory on losing weight and how we can try it as well. She creates a helpful log for each day to keep us on track and motivated. She also explains how and why she got into this business.
If you are ready to lose weight then this is the book for you! You should also check out some of her walking videos. I was so dumb to buy a 1,000 elipitical! I use her every morning before breakfast while my eliptical is folded!

Good Luck!
Nice way to ease into an exercise
This book has been helpful to me because it eases me into exercising without overwhelming me with alot of 'rules' I need to follow.
The book has an introduction that gives you the scoop on why walking is such an effective workout, why walking is good for you health and informs you on a few things you need before you begin the program.
The next section deals with the actual exercises you will be doing during your 6-week challenge. Leslie has plenty of pictures of how to do the stretches, strength training moves and basic walking moves. Leslie is pictured using weighted gloves, weighted balls, an ab belt, and stretch band. If you want to see these images before you purchase the book, check out her website at [...]
Part 3 of the book is titled, "The Program" and is basically a place to journal your progress through the 6-week program. At the beginning of each week, you are asked to write down your goals for that week and what you accomplished the week before. There is also a walk booster for every week and they involve things such as, taking a multi-vitamin, drinking plenty of water, adding strengh training, self-acceptance, and sleep.Leslie makes it very clear that you can choose whether or not you want to do the walk booster every week. She really just wants you to start walking! In the daily journal pages, you are asked when you will walk that day, did you walk that day, did you take your vitamin, how did you feel and a beautiful thing. As the program progresses, you will also keep up with water intake and how much sleep you got. There are a few pages that also give you the opportunity to keep the program going after the six weeks by walking longer distances. Chapters on walking during and after pregnancy, senior walking, and changing your eating habits are included.
Finally, the 4th section of the book is titled "Making Life Work." Leslie tells you a little bit about herself, how to deal with stress, and motivation.
The book includes a DVD but I was disappointed with it. The walking pace didn't match the pace of the music. I highly recommend Leslie's other walking tapes. She has a great many to choose from on her website and most come with a video preview you can see right on your computer screen.
I have enjoyed doing the program so far and once again, it eases you into every step without having to do everything at once.
Leslie does it again!
I am a total addict of Leslie Sansone's Walk Away programs - I had many exercise videos, but never stuck to anything until I found her energizing, fun, and most of all easy workouts.
In her personal, talking-to-you-like-a-best-friend style, Leslie shows you how regular exercise benefits you in all ways from your health to your body to your mind and then presents her easy to follow basic workout which consists of three walking steps that are interchanged and sometimes modified while doing the program.
There is no dieting in this program! She is a strong proponent of getting up and moving to better your life and shows it here by offering a few modifications you can make to your way of eating to help you lose weight, but no real diet, which I think is great! It helps to show that the real health factor is getting the exercise you need, not feeling deprived of the food you want which is why many diets fail.
She has many success stories to motivate you peppered throughout the book and closes with a discussion about how stress affects your life and how you can beat it through exercise.
I love Leslie! She is personable, motivating, and a great teacher - I am forever grateful to her for getting this former couch potato, at-home mom to stick to an exercise routine that I know will always benefit my life.
