Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com Review
Most of us have become masters of multitasking--answering phones, checking e-mail, and reading simultaneously, and Corningware follows suit with dishes designed for the microwave, oven, tabletop, dishwasher, and refrigerator. Corningware's French White bakeware combines the functionality of classic designs with contemporary styling. This set of four 7-ounce ramekins is ideal for fruit dishes, puddings, or hors devoirs, allowing you to cook in the same dishes you serve with (as with all Corningware and other ceramic or glass bakeware, you'll always need to use potholders when handling the dish). When you're done, you can stick the leftovers in the fridge or the empty ramekins in the dishwasher. The set boasts an impressive 10-year warranty. --Ariel Meadow Stallings

Perfect for individual portions!5
If you enjoy making individual size portions, you can use these for mini-soufflés or to serve fruit salad for breakfast. These hold just under 1-cup of liquid and they are about the size of your palm.

They are also very useful for dipping sauces or for bite-size vegetables and dip. We mix half mayonnaise and half Italian dressing so we can dip baby carrots into the creamy mixture.

When making certain dishes, you might want to measure out your ingredients before you start. (Known as: mise en place)

These will hold up to 3/4 cup, or about that amount or dried ingredients. You will then feel like a chef as you toss the ingredients into the bowl when mixing.

Also useful for when you are making spicy dishes and you want to mix up all the spices and add them all at once. When you are cooking rice, use these dishes to help shape a pile of rice (press freshly cooked rice into the ramekin) and then turn the dish over on a serving plate...then surround with sauce or your main dish servings. Very nice presentation!

Look for a "mini-whisk" for use when you want to mix up a small amount of ingredients in these very versatile dishes.

NOT for use with a TORCH or BROILER3
These ramekins are NOT for use with a TORCH or BROILER people! Read their bottoms for the caution. I know the Corningware of old could be used on open flame, but not these. I have several colors of these and they all say the same thing (disappointing, eh?). Porcelain ramekins=ditto. These may end up exploding in your faces if you use them inappropriately, so I hope someone who is will come back and read this.

There are ramekins that can be used with a torch or under the broiler (check out Le Crueset or Emile Henry items) here at Amazon.

These little items are great for storing grated garlic and such in, so you don't ruin your small plastic storage cups (like Tupperware). The stoneware won't absorb the odors like plastic does. They also can be used in the oven, but their bottoms don't indicate at how high of a temperature, which does give me pause. I wish Corning's new owner would bring back the Corning that we all used to love and trust.

I love 'em!5
Perfect for dips and snacks when you want a party of four to have small individual bowls. Highly durable and great quality!

UPDATE:
I've now had mine for nearly 3 years. They still look and perform like the day I purchased them. Highly satisfied with this purchase.
