Amazon.com Review
The FoodSaver system helps prevent freezer burn, keeps foods fresher and more flavorful, and even protects nonfood items--keeps silver from tarnishing, for example. This is done through a vacuum process and the use of heavy-duty FoodSaver bags. The FoodSaver Stor 'N Cut is both a receptacle for those bags and also a cutting tool for making custom-sized storage bags. It is intended for use in tandem with the more basic FoodSaver vacuum sealers.
The slim Stor 'N Cut has a simple roll-back lid that makes changing the bag rolls easy, and it's adjustable for either the 8-inch or 11-inch rolls. FoodSaver bags can be cut to size because every storage task is different. They can be used to repackage purchases in portions sized for various needs. Meals prepared in advance and sealed in FoodSaver bags can be taken right from the freezer or refrigerator and boiled or reheated in the microwave.
Always unplug the Stor 'N Cut before cleaning; it is not immersible. Clean using a mild dishwashing soap and a warm, damp cloth; do not use any abrasive pads or cleansers. FoodSaver bags are reusable. Wash bags in warm water using a mild dishwashing soap, or turn inside out and spread over top rack of dishwasher. Allow bags to dry thoroughly before reusing. Bags that have been used to store raw meats, fish, or greasy or fatty foods may not be reusable. The Stor 'N Cut comes with a detailed instruction pamphlet. Tilia guarantees its FoodSaver products with a one-year limited warranty. --Garland Withers
Customer Reviews
Very convenient add-on to the FoodSaver
Very convenient storage case for a roll of FoodSaver bag material. The front of the case features a sliding cutter, allowing you to neatly cut bags in a straight line. The blade is completely concealed, making it a very safe device children can use.
One of the dissatisfied reviewers pointed out that the bag roll is not held inside the case, causing the material to shift as you slide the cutter and resulting in wavy cuts. True, but easy enough to fix: hold the bag while you're sliding the cutter, and you'll get a perfectly straight cut everytime. You don't even have to apply pressure to the cutter as you slide it from side to side, because of the blade's clever design.
Highly recommended if you use your FoodSaver often.
Perfect In Every Way
My wife didn't want this at first. She's opposed to "junking" up the kitchen with too much stuff, especially on the wall. If you use your food saver often, you'll want this and it isn't obtrusive under a cabinet. Cutting the food saver bags correctly is no small trick and a real pain. This does a quick clean job and gives you a perfect edge. We don't even notice it anymore until we need it and then it's a pleasure.
Excellent Buy
It's simple and it does exactly what's it's supposed to do -- quickly and smoothly cuts off the exact length of storage bag that I need for the task at hand. A vast improvement over attempts to do the same with scissors.
I had seen a couple of negative reviews re: the roll of bags sliding around when the cutter was in motion, but that has not been a problem for me at all. All that's required is just put pressure on the top of the gizmo to hold things in place.
Thanks!
