Editorial Reviews

About the Author
This influential guide by "the father of modern beekeeping," originally published in 1853, is the first descriptive piece of modern bee management. Its innovations allowed people to engage in actual beekeeping, rather than simply handling bee domiciles and extracting the honey. The techniques it explains and are still employed 150 years later--including the author's patented invention, a movable frame hive. In a reader-friendly, enthusiastic style, Langstroth addresses every aspect of beekeeping: bee physiology; diseases and enemies of bees; the life-cycles of the queen, drone, and worker; bee-hives; the handling of bees; and many other topics.

Customer Reviews

bought this as a gift for bee keeper friend5
I did not know how important this book was in beekeeping lore. But I scored big picking it as a gift for my beekeeping friend. He flipped and was very happy with it - said 5 for 5!

so if you're a beekeeper, or a friend of one, here's a new clean copy of a classic!

Finally back in Print!!!!5
This is the one book that EVERY bee keeper or bee hobbyist MUST have...bees have not changed since Langstroth wrote this book, and every book I did read on bees referenced this book - so like the bees I smelted the roses and got it! This is not a problem, question or issue you can not solve if you consult Langstroth.

10 out of 10!!

Glad to see this RARE book back in print and on Amazon5
This is one book that belongs in every beekeepers den. But its hard to get! A classic like this needs to be read.

Beekeeping is vital as are bees. The origional Langstroth work is still used by all beekeepers and handed down, family to family. I am so happy to be able to order it new now.

Thank you.
