Great on history, okay on planning
As I went through the planning of my handfasting ritual, I was looking for a good reference on ritual ideas. I bought this book, among others. The first third of the book covers the history of handfasting traditions, which is interesting reading and an excellent resource if you're researching Pagan handfasting history.

The back of the book boasts that there is a "planner" included in the book. This is nothing more than about a dozen blank pages with headings at the top of them (Ceremony, Reception, etc.). I pretty much had already done that with blank pages in my office calendar/planner.

The remainder of the book has a written-out ritual, which is useful for getting ideas for your own. I only wish there were more examples like this in the book.

To summarize, the history in this book is excellent. However, if you're looking for ideas for a handfasting ritual, the book _Handfasting and Wedding Ritual_ by Raven Kaldera & Tannin Schwartzstein (Llewellyn Publications) is a much better resource.

History or Practice ???
My husband and I bought this book to help a friend with her ceremony. We were looking for practical advise with some historical context. We got history with some practical advise. Sorely disappointing, that's all. Otherwise it's good book, just not for planning a handfasting or wedding.
