cute toy
This is a cute little plastic lantern....was perfect as a decoration for a Potter-themed birthday party. It's not terribly durable, though; when knocked off the table, the on/off switch bent and no longer works well (have to jiggle it a bit to get it to stay on.) I would recommend this as a decorative or collectible item, but it will not likely hold up as a toy.

Cheap feel, but it was cheap
What can you expect for $5? Not much really. So when this arrived I thought, yep, $5 is $5, and this is what this looks like it cost. The on/off switch came broken but you can still turn the thing on and off. Good for kids because it's all plastic. But it's what you get for $5.

Not for Collectors
It seems that this item comes in a couple different lantern colors, and the one I received was nothing like the picture. Little kids may enjoy it, but collector's even "just for fun" ones should pass on this item. I bought this (and quite a few other small HP trinkets) and while none of them were superb and most out of plastic, this one looked poorly made and actually looks cheap. If you're getting this for a youngster, 3 or so, then it's probably a good deal, but if it's for anyone older than that or an HP fan, I would pass
